Energy enhanced 280, but will probably feature 2GB and 256-bit.
You should all vote for John Byrne for ice bucket, sorry John.
It was said over 2 years ago that 2gb was not enough and a 256bit bus is rubbish, why would amd release a card that's worse in every way than the 280x other than saving power? If rumours are true obviously.

Might be a proof of concept card for investors demonstrating the capabilities of the architecture. Like the 750ti.

That's great, call it a 275 instead, obviously amd know that just the name 285 will sell more cards as it's higher than 280.

I agree, which is why I suspect that the performance characteristics from this card might be a good indicator to the performance of a 290 successor. Interesting stuff!
