WHy would it not sound good for the 4870? It's destined to be a low-cost, high performing unit that should be on a par or greater as an 8800GTX for considerably less cash. It's the 4870 X2 thats going to be providing the high-end grunt.
Exactly if what we're hearing is right the 4850 should be about £130 when it comes out, and te 4870 should be sub £200.
Meaning you could crossfire 2 (or more) of em for same/less money than the reported prices of the 260/280's.
If thats true then it had better perform on a par or greater than the 8800 GTS... because if it doesn't no-one with any sense will buy it till it drops below the £100 mark.

yup i knew it wouldnt be the card to rule crysis.. but then it is on very high which means it takes a dip while hardly looking any better than high.
people with 22" monitors should run it at good speeds at full res, prob still drop to 40 or so minimum even then
Absolutely, and only then if they are upgrading from a 7xxx or 19xx series card or lower. Otherwise there is still no point.
The GTX260 is not supposed to compete with the 4850, or even the 4870. It's operating in a higher price-bracket. The r700 will compete with the 260 and 280.
It plays at about 9 fps atm so not really
At 1920*1200 on Very High? That's miles ahead of anything else... it's not the cards fault that Crysis is coded like ****.

The 4850 and 4870 are competing with the old 9800's, not the GT200's, the 4850 is supposedly the 8800 GT competitor, and the 4870 the 9800 GTX.
Where's your source for that?

im pretty suer they said the 4870 will be 1.3 times 9800GTX and 4850 the 8800GTS

When are we going to stop judging cards by how well they do on crysis a game so shockingly badly coded that nothing should be judged on it. As for what competes with what i thought 4850 was meant to compete with the likes of the 8800GT\GTS, 4870 to compete with 9800GTX and the 4870X2 was the 260&280 competotor. Either way until any of these are released arguing about how well any of them will do is a bit pointless as they might all be a complete pos when we actually get them lol.

I agree, but everyone is, when the GT200's come out, everyone will say they are pointless cards that are not worth buying, as they can't run that ******* game, yet they can run every other game on the planet at about 5000fps, its how it is now.
