AMD To Launch RV770 On June 18th

It gets 24FPS with 4xAA, 1650x1050, good or bad? I ask because I don't know how other cards compare at those settings, and that 24FPS is borderling 'playable' in Crysis, and that people all whine about how AA with just about every graphics card kills it.

Its a benchmark, 99% of it bares no relation to in game performance, 24 fps will be mostly lower/unplayable in actual in game performance.

Meh, still cant beat a stock GT.:o

Those results beat my GTX OC to Ultra with a 4GHZ cpu. So yes it can.

For the record my Ultra scored 35FPS avg @ 1680x1050 (HIGH NO AA) so yea it's side by side. Which is damn impressive. Can't wait to see what the 4870 can do.

Just found my 1680x1050 results for my GTS that scored 37FPS average. So it's spot on with it pretty much.

Thats my results @ 1680x1050 with a 9800GTX @ Stock coupled with an core 2 duo e6300@ 3.2Ghz so basically there is a big gap there in terms of processor speeds!

For £140 I think I just made the right purchase for my system since I am matching the speeds of the 4850 on a Quad core at 4ghz on my Core 2 Duo at 3.2Ghz! :D

Definately some good numbers for ATi tho!

Isnt it the same cooler as the 3850 (essentially)? Are they all that loud? Cant be worse than that 8800GT I had.

The cooler is identical to the 3850's, except that the fan is larger and there is a vent in the side of the cooler so that hot air doesn't just bounce off the IO plate.

If you look at the pictures, you'll notice that the 4850 has larger, more radial fins than the 3850's square block of a heatsink (underneath the shroud).

... Wow, that actually puts the 4850 scarily close to GTX280 territory.

(edit: y'know, being SLi GT's should perform very closely to the 9800 GX2, which in turn level-pegs with the GTX280 on average)

Looking at those J.D

I wonder if Raven will still argue that a stock GT can beat it :D

lmao

He's like the Star Wars kid. Never gives up :D.

If a 4850 at stock is only 4fps in differential to 2x 8800GT @ 1680x1050 x4 AA then I think that's pretty amazing. An overclock would maybe close the gap but I don't think it will surpass the SLI'd GT's. Maybe even draw even.

What about 2x 4850's then?. Darn the mind boggles . One minute it's that the 4850 is the 9800GTX competitor but I don't think one 9800GTX is a match for SLI'd GT's. There's that many stories out there it's hard to tell and it's kinda making this exciting if both companies have been doing their best to mislead us :).

With a benchmark from the only person that seems to be sharing and a user with the SLI'd GT's reporting some figures in a heavy GPU limited game, it does kinda throw things up in the air a bit.

Need a herbal ciggie, a refreshing fruit juice and some virtual online killing.

Aye, I think if true then that is really outstanding work on ATI's behalf.

This is just an early (but promising) report. Other games might show the 4850 at the 9800GTX level and that would confirm what we're expecting. If anything more then woot :).
