It seems that the 4850 performs like a very overclocked G80 GTX/Ultra or 3870 X2. This, I see as extremely positive.

wonder how much performance is to be had out of a volt modded 4870, since nvidias new cards are a bit poor i dont suppose these are gonna be any better

More to the point, side by side with an 8800 Ultra clocked at 715MHz at such a low price. Or, according to an ORB search, side by side with two of its predecessors on a single PCB which are clocked 200MHz higher than itself. Now consider that the 4870 is supposed to be 30% faster.

3D Mark scores are all well and good, but ATi cards usually perform better in 3DMark anyway.

However, I am now considering buying 2x4850s to replace my 9800GX2...ATi look like they could get their products right on target this time; good for them.
