AMD To Launch RV770 On June 18th

Is there any truth to the rumour that the 4870X2 will do away with crossfire completely and have some sort of internal load balancing method?

Also, is it true that it will share its memory between the two cores?

Has the review actualy been done, i get a lot of headlines, but no benchmarks or numbers to show the outcome. It seems to be waiting for images from a site called imagebanana.com just wondering if its me or something else?

Maybe thats the only CPU the person owns. Or the person has been told by AMD to use an AMD CPU.

Ive also noticed that everyone who has managed to get the cards early to test and stuff have all been Power Color.

4850 xfire looks a good combination. At under £250 you're going to surpass the GTX 280's no doubt. There have been many hints of this in the 280 reviews

Exciting times.

Single 4850 is no faster than a 8800GT

so xfire 4850 or SLI 8800GT its swings and roundabouts

Mark my words 2 x 4850 will not be 280 territory .

Yeah i guess so and you also make a good point Azza about the people that are getting the cards early. Still it bodes well for when the people with the core 2's get hold of them should see a nice increase in performance then :).

You may be right, but you have no way of proving that right now easy. Please stopped posting speculation as facts unless you have proof :)

So Amd are out and out lying they are the ones saying the 4850 is 25% slower then 280 not us we didn't make it up so if that is true xfired 4850's wouldn't just be in the territory they would beat a 280.

By going on the review on XS :

Q6600@ 3.8ghz 8800GT 721/1022 15,554 (easyrider's clock)

QX9650@ 4ghz 4850 card at 700 /1100 15,824 (xtremesystems.org)

The 4850 is not worth buying if you have a 8800GT

A single 4850 IS faster than a GT from what we have seen so far. Faster in COJ, Crysis blah blah.

4850 will be cheaper than the GT by some. I'll hold you to that statement though..

AMD made the statement about the 4850 being 75% of the 280's performance, if that is true like they stated then it can only mean that XFIRE 4850 comes very close.

They said similar things about the 2900 IIRC :p

I went to my retailer today and kicked off as I have had no feedback for 3 weeks regarding my replacement 8800GT. The manager loaned me a 9600GT for now so I thought I would bench it for a laugh against the 4850 on Lightsmark.

That particular benchmark has always been absolutely abysmal on nvidia cards.

Wow that Crysis benchmark is pretty impressive considering the resolution and the AA used. I'd like to see one without though as we all know how much AA criples in Crysis

22FPS avg

Ok i am going blind i can't see xfired 4850's there am i missing a bit ?. NM rest of it has popped up :). Though that result is no larger then jimmywhatsit on XS and he is only testing one 4850 so maybe crysis is not seeing second card and that explains why it is so much slower.
