Looks like I'm on the hunt now, GTX sold within 3 hours on *** bay-e

AA performance looks solid, and I want something less power hungry :)

At this rate by the time Ati get good numbes of 4870's in we will all have gone over to xfired 4850's lol. Apart from raven he will have his tri sli gtx280 epeen special rig up and running.

You thick? nah don't answer that i know the answer, so he basically benched in DX10 but with DX9 settings, ye that makes sense.

He was benching High settings using the DX10 codepath, what don't you understand about that?

Interstingly enough if you compare the crysis results to the dx9 chart on here, it puts 4850's xfire the same as two 8800gtx in SLI or a GX2 card.

I guess in Crysis at least, two 4850's are't going to own a GTX280 but for the money (£260) who cares?

Roll on other benchies and the 4870's and 4870x2.:D

Looking at the OCUK Crysis leaderboard for dual core CPU's (as the guy is running an E8400), that would put the STOCK CF 4850's in 4th place.

Beating out OC'd 9800GX2's, SLi GTX's and Quadfire 3870's.

(Really it should be 3rd place as ripplings score is so massivly outthere it can't be right)

Forget to filter out quadcores.....:o

Its a fact that benching at high settings is basically playing the game in DX9, as very high settings are where all the DX10 effects kick in, so he benches in DX10 but with no DX10 effects, ye quality benching right there.

Ill say it again, high settings=DX9, very high= DX10, no doubt he selected to run it in DX10, but why not run it with DX10 effects where his fps would hit the deck, even the benchmark regards it as DX9 at high settings, even though he has DX10 selected.

Crysis has no 'DX10' effects. Other than slightly different 'dust' effects due to the rendering differences between DX9 and DX10.

The extra effects you get in Very High mode are all doable in DX9 just as easily, hence the proverbial motherload of customised configs floating about.

All the very high setting does is add in stuff like POM and longer view distances etc etc. Nothing DX10.

So running DX10 high and DX9 high gives you the same graphical effects as each other and an apples to apples comparison of the DX10 and DX9 codepaths.

He could have quite easily run a custom config in DX9 to enable Very High settings and then compared it to DX10 Very High settings... but how is that any different to what he's done already using the High settings instead.

its pm now!!!!!!!?!?!??!?!!??!

j/k:D

YEAH! Meh, I gave up trying to keep track of the release date, there seem to be four of them with only two cards releasing lol. I was expecting though 4850s today and perhaps limited quantities of 4870 this week or next. Perhaps there waiting so they can get more stock around. As was said, getting these parts from Asia to Europe and the USA so quick is a bit of a miracle if it is indeed true.

Those boys work fast tho :)

2xHD 4850 + HD3870 = possible...?
