AMD To Launch RV770 On June 18th

Yeah big advantage ATI have. I notice the latest driver release for Nvidia enables you to mix and match cards in SLI but only on their top end boards and only with GTX260 and GTX280's.

So no good to all the G92 card owners out there even if they had a SLI mobo.

That sucks

So same performance as a GX2 which isn't too shabby really for £260.

Plus the bonus that if you have a 3870x2 already and you just buy a £130 4850 you will have that performance as well.

I want to see other games though, fed up with crysis results.

Indeed, it looks like as soon as you apply AA it starts outperforming the 9800GTX by a good margin...and in some cases closing in on the GTX 260.

Sorry for this daft question but whats the 4870 card? Is it 2 4850's on one die or what? I don't bother with crossfire or sli.

so where is easy now that it's quite obvious the 4850 is a better card than the 8800GT :/

Nope, same RV770 core but with higher clocks and some model will have GDDR5 as well as 1gb memory

And what do you know, that French preview says it has 800 SP.

Is that confirmation enough for everyone now? :)

Probably not because some numpty on the bay will probably put them with 480 shaders sooner or later and suddenly become the most credible source on the internet. :p

well i hope that article about how there could be another 40-60 shaders waiting to be unlocked is true :)

Well it does make sense that there isnt exactly 800 as I dont think that would work, so it would have to be like 840 and 40 of them locked or what ever. So ive read any way.

Let's hope some one figures out how to open them up too like what happened with the 9800SEs!
