AMD To Launch RV770 On June 18th

are you sure ? as i have seen the 4850 for £148 , surely the 4870 will end up more than £200

No am not sure. But it does tie in with a lot of what is going on. People where making expectations of ATi charging more because of how good there products where, but neglected to factor in Nvidia retaliation.

ATI has informed its bellowed partners that it will launch Radeon HD 4870 cards next week with a new suggested e-tail price. Instead of going for $329, ATI will launch its cards at $299, as it wants to position this card better than GTX 260, its main competitor.

Geforce 9800 GTX is listed in American e-tail for as low as $259.99 after a mail- in rebate, but the first information we've gathered confirms that Radeon HD 4870 is faster than 9800GTX.

Nvidia has new driver and 9800 GTX+ card to fix the situation, but Geforce GTX 260 is still not available, and when it becomes available it will be selling for $399.

What else can we say if not price wars?

It's a guess though, even at $329 it isnt that bad. It depends I guess on how ATi descide to counter, nvidia's counter (lol) of the 9800GTX+.

awesome, i'm holding off for a 4870 then. I like bigger cards anyway....it makes me feel better about my small penis:(

*Cough*

Looks like there's definitely going to be two different 4870s then. There's '512MB' on the heatsink sticker.

You've seen it at rip off prices. There's also places selling them for £138, and the bay has some for £100+ 25£ shipping from the US. The high prices are just due to price gouging.

Too many people looking at it.

Pretty slow for me.

Any who... 4850 Crossfire results from them, if its slow for anyone else...

What's scary is that that is technically more than 100% scaling in CoD4. wtflmaonade?

Edit: Just to note, Guru3D got similar results in CoD4, so crossfire probably removes some trivial bottleneck in the graphics setup somewhere...

1fps is within the margin of error imo

Yeah there's that, too. It's still scaling very well, it shows that if software support was as good as in CoD4 then multi-card solutions would be very viable.

Bioshock really did shock me... Faster than the GTX260 there.
