AMD to unveil Zen 4 CPUs at CES 2022

If AMD only has one vcache chip and not until spring for that, that's dissapointing.

It seems they didn't anticipate the kind of performance AL would bring to the table and have been caught off guard. I had hoped they would be ready to respond by now.

All good things.

AMD is clearly marketing the 5800X3D directly at gamers with the “Extreme Gaming Performance” highlighted in the leaked slide.
I hope that means AMD has more 3D CPU’s to reveal at their event in just 2 hours and 30mins!

It could be they only have the one version as the demand in server is too much and they are using failed Epyc bins. Since the main performance gain on desktop was gaming it makes sense to market as such and users that want more performance with higher thread counts will have to wait for Zen 4.

Seems like 3+ is going to be late (later than we thought) and Zen 4 maybe a smidge earlier, so maybe could end up with a limited number of SKUs. AMD just need 1 processor to claim back the gaming crown , but I doubt that will be a 5800x3d tbh.

5800X3D a nice way to end of AM4. cpu like that should last for a fair while, letting am5 mature before jumping on.

With current market and Intels disaster launch of ddr5 adl yea, I will upgrade to 5800x3DV cache from current 5600x.
Then wait for am5, ddr5 and zen4 to mature with prices and availability.
Early adopters pay to much for no real benefits really.
I dont really need to upgrade my 5600x but this 3D cache seems great for my set up.
It will also be faster than my sisters kids set up...

If they don't drop the 5800x at no more than what the current 12700k pricing is then it will be a dud for a lot of people in my view because it is adding nothing in the price to performance part and wont give enough back to justify a higher cost in my opinion. The cheaper Intel boards will be here by then and the gains unless they are magic (15%+ for gaming across board) then it wont be competitive enough to command such a high price.

As above. Even then further down the line when Zen 4 is out, it may cause Zen3D prices to drop. Would still be a decent cheaper upgrade for those on AM4 instead of having to invest into a full new setup.
