They haven't even made any announcements yet, why so quick to jump to conclusions?

I have not yet placed an order, so no "conclusions" yet. My VR sim rig and multi-monitor desktop combo would make for a lot of tedious work (on top of the hardware swap) if I make a complete platform change though. Laziness on my part means a price cut could persuade me to stick with the platform and forgo the performance advantage Intel is offering.

I'd be amazed if it doesn't cost more than the original 5800X $450, I recon it'll be around $500-600 depending on how performance stacks up to ADL in games.

You literally just said "I was hoping for a 16 core vcache chip." pretty sure that you have concluded there isn't once from that sentence. I was being past tense, I am being present or future.

So 'you are' hoping there will be a 16 core part with vcache to be announced then.

But you'll buy one anyway, since you bought a 5800X at full MSRP and still whinge about AMD prices every day.:cry::cry:

You think it could cost more than the 5900X?
If it out performs the 5900X in games then certainly and the extreme gaming tag would indicate it does. The fact they have gone with the 5800X as the choice of gaming CPU this time is probably because it uses a highly binned die that hits 5ghz+ With the extra cache tacked on for good measure and the 8 core chip will have the power budget to push those cores to the max with the extra cache.

Can’t see gaming performance driving price unless it makes a significant difference. Although 3D-Cache did show 26% gains in gaming, so maybe.
