So after all the information we got today, without anymore speculation and guessing are we in a situation where we need to wait for multi game benches on the new chips and pricing info, before we can start saying which will be the better value for money?

I see Intel confirmed they are shipping the 12900KS at the end of Q1 to vendors, so Spring '22 right inline with the 5800X3D so there must be some truth in AMD's slides showing better than 12900K performance or I doubt they would have bothered releasing an extra highly binned SKU. Although how much is it going to be £750+?

I would like the 5800X3D to be £350, but its going to be £400.

If what you're looking for is a straight up #1 gaming CPU its not bad.

The 12700K is currently £375, i think at £350 the 5800X3D would have killed that outright.

TBH I think AMD seen the 5800X3D tanning the 12900K and thought we can’t release the 5900X and 5950X versions. It’s just not fair :p Switch the extra production to the more RDNA2

Lisa is merciful.

Zen 4 with 25% IPC increase, 5.0 ghz clock, and better 3d cache will demolish Raptor Lake in gaming, cache alone made Zen 3 best gaming cpu, and it is the first version of cache.

I found the Zen4 announcement to be unbelievable. I couldn’t believe Lisa Su just picked it out of her pocket and then put it back in her pocket. Does she not worry about static shock damaging one of the only Zen4 cpus in existence!? Mind blown.

It will be defective or just a blank with the IHS over it so no worries on that

Pcore/Ecore setup. Zen4 should take the lead over RPL and then lose it to MTL.

The 5950X and 12900K are nip and tuck in productivity, so if AMD are pushing the 5800X3D for the gaming crown then why not the 5950X3D for the productivity (and outright) performance crown?

5950X3D is never going to beat Threadripper in productivity with just 16 cores and at the moment AMD 7nm production is in massive demand.

Plus probably a little professional decency.

Maybe they are but just keeping quiet? Or would a 5950X3D eat into lower tier Threadripper sales?

Also, interesting Zen3+ is launching with the APUs - those look very impressive.

For the same reason AMD has cancelled the 5900x3d: poor yields and high heat. X3d on 7nm is a novelty product from Lisa. zen 4 is the real goods

So in a few months the best gaming processor you can buy will cost only £400. Not bad in that respect at all.

Zen 4 looks tasty doesn't it. I wonder how many cores we will be looking at for the top spec chip?

Who said anything about Threadripper? If the V cache refresh is a short term answer to Alder Lake then AMD don't have an outright winner at the very top end. The 12900K and 5950X are neck and neck in productivity, that's going to make the 12900KS the outright king. A 5950X3D would cement AMD at the very top for this year.

Entirely possible. See what the 12900KS does for the productivity benches and then release the 3D cache refresh to take back the crown for this year.

Threadripper is about the I/O, not necessarily the cores. There's been cries for a low core count Threadripper 3000 to get all that tasty PCIe without the high cost of CPUs that will go largely unused.

Alder lake pulling over twice the power and 10% the longevity with fastest DDR5 currently available.

The 5950X is a clear winner for a AM4 based workstation build.

AMD showing a 5950X3D at 65 watts beating a 12900KS at 365 watts would be brutal.
