AMD VEGA confirmed for 2017 H1

Best case scenario in my mind for Vega is to beat stock 1080 by a small margin. Silly to expect more.
Thus it must undercut 1080 in price. No more stupid high launch prices of Fury.

Why is it silly to expect more. I must be silly then as i expect Vega to compete in some way or fashion with the 1080ti and i suspect Nvidia do as well seeing the price looks to be better than most thought. Although i said it would be $700-800 and not the $1000 some were predicting.

Because it wasn't announced yesterday with stats etc.
And you will find are exactly the same people who bash AMD back in December of not doing the same with Ryzen. Just only showing some machines using it and the new name of the Cpu.

Same happened yesterday. Raja showed us what the Vega is capable of, where they focus on and the name of the product.
2 1/2 months down the line, there is going to be an event launching the product.

imho from yesterday we learn that
a) going to be really powerful, from live rendering of 4k that scene in India

b) very efficient, with the cache tech. And if you see the video with the Deus ex, the left was a full blown vega with cache off, on the right the same gpu with 2gb vram and the cache on. Both rendering at 4k with max out settings.

c) what left me puzzled, is how the liquidsky going to have Vega gpu servers running on March 14th, when the gpu isn't on the market yet.

Sounds great. Only disappointment I have is that Dues Ex is a pants game. AMD should not be using it to show of their tech. They need better games to use as examples if they are really going to compete with Nvidia.

Regarding the Capsaicin & Cream thing yesterday and the India VR demo.... dunno, I didn't find it at all impressive. But then again VR isn't something that impresses me full stop.

Actually I think it's good they show cased it running at 4GB and 2GB with their Caching.

The game is "unplayable" at Ultra settings on the Fury X as the 4GB just can't handle it at all. I need to run the game at High, and knock down shadows to not run out of memory.

When is the NDA up on the T-Shirt guys please? Will it be cotton or a mix of Polyesthererer? (Sorry, couldn't resist) but joking aside, it wouldn't have done them any harm to drop some info/game running at all, especially with NVidia bringing out a card that is faster than the TXP.

I have no issue with AMD and i never expect anything from their GPU division. They are simply best at making them self fools and they give reason to increase Nvidia GPU sales in just 1.3 hrs of their presentation.
Nvidia bringing a GPU out has increased Nvidia sales. Why on earth you keep spouting your t-shirt line as if its relevant is another matter.
You seem genuinely grieved that AMD hasn't brought forwards the release of a GPU by 3 or so months just because Nvidia is releasing one. It's madness.
If you don't care about AMD's graphics cards, why are you crayoning over this thread?

A little joke here and there is fine like you have Gregster (even encouraged I would say), but that doom fela is just taking the biscuit with his posts. Ignores a legitimate question I asked him and bangs on about T-shirts

Because he gets excited when Nvidia do something that he perceives makes AMD look bad, then comes to an internet forum to gloat over it and everyone who he perceives favors AMD. Its yawntastic, i just ignore him for the most part, he obviously has issues.

Just ignore him if it bothers you. It is only a bit of hardware that we buy for fun bud, so no safe space should be needed :D I expect plenty of people will be claiming "milking/bending over/shafted" etc in the 1080Ti threads but all cool to me :)

I am getting close to adding him to ignore list. But I would rather not have to do that, only person I think I ever did that with with some guy called toaster or something. He got banned from the GPU section not so long after anyway lol.

It is fine that people have different tastes/opinions or make jokes, but his is not that. He just likes to come try wind people up with his drivel.

I swear that this is one of the worse and most pointless presentation i have ever seen from tech and sales point of view. The presentation and keeping fans till last min was only about unveiled the upcoming AMD VEGA shirt.

Not surprising as it wasn't a tech or sales event. You might as well complain that a teaser trailer for a movie isn't the movie itself.

I will agree with the general notion that the event could have been much better. That said i do also think that there was some interesting tidbits released. AMDs GPU events has always been awkward to watch :P but i usually find them overall more interesting than nvidias as Jen-hsun is just a glorified telemarketing seller slash showbis guy. AMD however could take a note or two from nvidia when it comes to presentations :P cause sometimes its just to much amateur hour on the red stage.

Agreed, AMDs presentations can be awkward for sure. Nvidia presentations and marketing as a whole is much better.

They should have printed the Vega specs on the T-Shirt label. Now that would have been a reveal.

As a not very objective observer (I will almost certainly buy Vega unless it's really abysmal) it does feel like AMD have no concept of how to play the game. It would have been better to just be honest and say they weren't ready to talk about it yet, after all they have a good excuse with the Ryzen launch. Instead they just make themselves look like fools.

I think that Shirt reveal was a clear troll.. It has to be a troll. Makes no sense to call it RX Vega. Polaris is not named RX Polaris now it is? besides from my understanding there are more than 1 version of the vega chip so what would the second one be called? RX Vega 2? just no.. if im wrong and this is indeed what they end up calling it then just fire the marketing department cause they clearly failed.

Being objective AMD could release some specs at anytime they choose, I mean we already know there a number of Vega units in the hands of that Liquid hosting service so its not like the hardware doesn't exist and they must be manufacturing the parts now for a H1 2017 release. I can see they are working hard with developers but they need to sort it out a bit more with their customers imho we need facts to make some comparisons these GPUs are expensive things.

AMD maybe changing their marketing inline with the recognition that Geforce is nvidia.

So now we will have AMD Vega RX590 or whatever, instead of Radeon. It would make sense of Vega is such a massive jump in technology, a bit like Ryzen is. :)
