Yeah i don't understand waiting for Vega, as you can get that performance now from the 1070/80, why the hell would you wait another year for it lol.

I agree if you want something now and can afford it buy it. Waiting for the next best thing is a never ending story

Why not just buy a Titan XP @£500-600 in 9 months time unless you dont expect it to drop to that in 9 months and if thats the case then Why should AMD sell there brand new product that matches the Titan XP for much less than the Titan XP at the time.

I still have a sneaking suspicion that the current Pascal cards are more geared towards DX11 than 12 though, with AMD cards getting stronger the more DX12/Vulkan titles are released...

I suppose we'll find out in a year or so!!

Good value indeed but for those who like top end, very meh.

AMD are bringing a higher end card in Vega, that's what we're talking about. If it's good value against Nvidia's higher end cards then it's fine. They don't have to beat them on performance, but offer a well priced alternative. Historically even when AMD have the performance edge people still buy Nvidia. What AMD are doing now is very smart. It shows in their financials.

AMD seems to be playing a much smarter game these days.

RX480 is good value, I'm sure VEGA cards will be too. In their respective performance tiers. Nvidia / AMD both have good products. I just can't fanboy for either side. Maybe I am not as devoted as some of you xD.

If AMD bring out a good Vega card I will buy it, if Nvidia do it with Volta I will get that too xD

Until then this GTX 1070 is very nice.

Surely it would be £800 minimum if it matched TXP?

You won't get 100% of the performance for 50% of the money. That would be crazy.

I worked for a company for a decade that did that, it went bust, now im working for the company that it was competing with which never got into the race to the bottom price war.

People keep going on about Volta but Nvidia have said nothing about Volta in 2017. There is nothing bar a few dodgy rumors to suggest Volta is next year. It could be mid 2018 for all we know. We do know that Vega is 1st half 2017 and that's concrete.

The Volta rumor is about as concrete as the Vega October release rumor. Nvidia have not even finished releasing Pascal yet.

Be interested to see if the dual vega 10 thats being talked about actually materialises as a consumer "x2" product and not some bs "prosumer" product like fury pro simply because it was delayed for so long.

That being said the internals of the fury duo in terms of cooling look vastly improved over the regular fury x which looks very ghetto in comparison, hopefully amd don't cheap out again if they go with an aio.

How about if comes in at Titan X pascal speed and £50 under Titan X pascal price, thats sounds a lot more reasonable.

could have had a TXP for a good few months now not only that but Volta is arriving not that much later than Vega if this schedule has no setbacks.

By then the old Pascal's will be sold second hand and we'll have been upgrade to Volta or Vega making it irreverent, we all know Nvidia like to gimp drivers for older cards!

Okay, I am confused now. Did I not say I would buy it if it was Titan XP performance for £500-600? So yeah, if Nvidia bring out a 1080Ti and it is pretty much on par with the Titan XP like 980Ti was with the Titan X at that price, I would buy that. But if Nvidia wait until say after March to do that, I would still wait a couple of months and see what AMD would offer. It is all about price for performance and timing. Just look at people who took advice here to not wait and bought 980Ti at full price with Pascal being imminent and later were very unhappy as for that money they could have had a new tech card that is the 1080.

Your point would be valid to me if Vega came out today and was Titan XP performance. But if roughly 9 months after Titan XP release, charging £1k or even £800? Got to be having a laugh. Lol. As I said, I would just wait a little longer and get a 1170 if that is the case.

True, but buying a product full price towards the end of it's life cycle is not exactly the best idea is it? If you got the money, at least buy it at the start of the products life cycle and use and enjoy it for 12-18 months before a better card comes out.

Exactly. Even if Vega is say between 1080 and Titan XP performance come May-June, if it is released for say £400-450 I would still probably be very interested. Provided of course Nvidia do not have a card out in such price range that has better price for performance.

The point is AMD would only be charging £1k or even £800? 9 months after Titan XP for Titan XP performance if NV is still charging £1k or even £800 9 months after release. so as i have consistently said when Vega is released whatever the price is of the Titan XP is at the time then charge £50 less.

Don't you think that anyone happy to pay £1100 for a GPU or even £1050 will have already bought one and wouldn't bother after 9 months? That would be a silly move for a card that is 9 months behind the competition and only competes with it.

Then the TitanXP will not be £1100 or even £1050 in 9 months because who would bother.

People will look at the performance and buy it if they think its worth it, if they are getting Pascal TX performance for a lot less and they like that they will buy it.

No one gives a #### what Pascal owners paid for theirs, people who didn't buy it didn't think it was worth it.

Anyone happy to pay that is insane. Anyone willing to pay that is another matter :D:D:D.

If AMD want to sell in numbers they won't be pricing any where near Titan for a single Gpu. I see what they are saying though as if Titan PX is still £1100 and Vega is as fast they would have every right to price around this area. They won't though as they need sales and more market share. It's still going to be expensive though if the 1080 is still priced where it is.

Everyones forgetting that AMD see themselves as a "Premium" brand now since Fiji... they dont have the products to be a "Premium" brand however, but that has not stopped them overpricing their under performing cards... Even Polaris was more expensive than it should have been.

AMD need to embrace the fact they are seen as the cheaper option, infact it would work in their favour, if they brought out stuff close to Nvidia performance but a whole lot cheaper, i bet you would sway a lot of Nvidia buyers across, obviously your still going to get your brand loyalists and people that perceive cheaper is worse and more expensive is better, but the general populace who wants bang for buck would move enmasse i reckon.

If you drop a Vega card that sits between 1080 and TitanXP perf and comes in around £650 your going to clean up as thats effectively the region the 1080ti will land in if it ever comes and your probably a good £100-£150 cheaper than that i would imagine.
