Well he isn't far from the truth with VEGA and the cache feature. You have much Vram you allow the GPU to have.
This is why personally I am a lot more interested in Vega vs 1080Ti Pascal, we already know what Pascal is all about, I had one for 8 months.

Vega is actually bringing lots of new shiny tech which is interesting. The question is will it translate to great performance? My guess is yes, but most seem to think no. We will see, not long left now :)

Hopefully, the good news going for Vega it seems the new feature don't need games to build for it in mind.
Amd can do it driver side.

removed post because is too radical writing with good meaning, that the GDDR5X and GDDR5 used by a known brand is not what is advertised.........

You can read here why was too radical related to some known brand memory speeds.....

Yes i agree, the Fury's 4gb of hbm was too limiting, expensive, and was never going to best the 980ti, I really hope Vega has more substantial gigabytes.

My guess is 8GB HBM2 which would be perfectly fine, especially if the cache feature or whatever it is called is any good.

I think 8gb on the smaller vega and 12gb on the bigger brother, dont know why i think like this but i feel amd is feeling generous.
Lets hope you are right, but I doubt we will see 12GB HMB2. Will be 8GB IMO, with a slim chance of 16GB with a big premium on it.

I tend to agree, AMD showed that feature on a gimped Vega for good reason and we know the HBM2 is expensive so they are going to want to limit its configuration whilst not scaring people off. 8GB sounds about right....

The Cache feature has to be exclusively optimized by the developers though doesn't it ?

If so, then it will hardly see any use, as every game is a Nvidia, bar the odd one or two a decade.

I thought it was the opposite? Because the cache gives high speed access to your main memory, the days of devs carefully managing assets and how they fit into the card's VRAM are now gone.

Im pretty sure i read somwhere that the HBC needed developer support, so if so, then you can forget about all those Nvidia games, which is just about every single one of em, be a pointless feature, like that audio thing they done.

I may, or have may not have been drunk like :p

Hope not, vulkan is going to be a thing that opens up features beyond proprietary deals with developers or am I just dreamin :(

Vulkan games are hardly streaming out though are they ?

Did they not say on stage other day HBC works on everything already?
Deus ex didn't get any secret love amd forced the gpu to only have 2gb vram.

HBC you just turn it on, and will fetch memory on your system, could be very usefull for 4k and moding.
vulkan just been added to unreal engine 4, i let you imagine how many games use that engine, bethesda announced that they will use vulkan for their games, so it's going, when games take 2 or 3 years to make you cannot condemn an API that just have been release a year ago.

LoM (loadsofmoney) can... He can do that, chew gum and post wccftech links all day long! :p

Not sure why people are expecting 12 GiB on Vega, I thought one of the selling points of HBM was that less of it was needed due to compression? We might see 6 GiB and 8 GiB models if that's the case.
