AMD VEGA confirmed for 2017 H1

With that said though i want a pair of Vega cards as i fancy X-Fire under DX12 and mgpu Vulkan etc, will probably never upgrade again after that as i imagine that'll last me a good 3+ years and by then Consoles will probably be the better option than a PC, wouldnt be suprised to see a Microsoft Conole running Windows 10 with KB / Mouse Support, 4K 60hz Gfx or even 120hz etc, then there no reason really to own a PC.

I feel you man. I don't like nvidia's pricing either. But at 4K you really do need at least a 1070 these days. My 290 started struggling on games released this year and my 295x2 was great, but I had to wait too long on quite a few new games I wanted to play until drivers were sorted. Don't think I will be doing multi gpu again.

Now with the 1070 I get away playing 4K very nicely by tweaking settings. As you said, there really is little difference between dropping settings down a little anyway. All I usually have to do to get latest games running smoothly is turn of useless stuff like motion blur, depth of field etc. Worst case I turn off any AA and I am good to go. Everything else maximum settings and games look great at 4K

For me personally my next card needs to provide around TXP performance without wanting silly money for it. Question is, will Vega deliver, I think it will. But for the moment with the games that are out now, the 1070 does the job very well

It can only get so bad though, before people stop gaming on PC (as you said). Then forcing GPUs back down in price. It just hurts the most right now because we are likely near the top of that peak pricing. Any higher and customers will find a new hobby.

Personally I hate controllers for gaming - never feel as immersed compared to keyboard and mouse.

Yeah me too, i dont mind controller for games like Fifa, Forza etc, but for RPG's and FPS games i prefer KB / Mouse.

There are some stuff you can get for Consoles that allow you to use a KB Mouse but its not native, i heard a rumor that with the DX12 update to the Xbone that soon after KB Mouse support would come, i have Elder Scrolls on both PC and Xbone, would love to play it on Xbone but the controller just feels weird, if it allowed me to use kb and mouse i think i would probably just give my PC to the kids lol.

I've had a play with some kb and mouse setups for consoles and it was horrid - laggy and imprecise and a million miles from my high refresh, 1000Hz polling, setup on PC.

No need for it tbh, Have Freesync and performance isn't really an issue for me atm all the games I play i get more than enough frame rate!

Plus Nvidia just isn't for me, the list of no no's outs the yes yes

The Xim4 is 1 to 1 ratio and it feels really responsive on my ps4. I played with it on Cod and Battlefront and it was close enough for me not to feel much difference if any. It costs £120 so not cheap.

I only suggested that as a short term fix as you aid you wanted a new card this year. But AMD will likely not have anything for you for another 6-9 months. Certainly nothing this year, unless you were hoping for something in October

I can understand what you mean about them, I am not exactly a fan either of the company either. But AMD had nothing out for me. 4K is not easy to run and I fancied a change anyway. If Vega delivers, my 1070 will be sold and replaced. If not I will just get a 1170

I feel ya. It's almost as if I'm now nostalgic for the Maxwell days, which weren't so long ago. I felt chuffed about getting my 970 for around £270 (thanks to OCUK), but good luck any folks who want to buy a 1070 for under £350 right now.

Or Nvidia to release the 1080ti, or the 1100 series to cause clearance sales for the current Pascal GPUs to bring those down to prices that might be deemed reasonable. I almost had a 980ti for under £350, if it weren't for it being out of stock. Cos currently the offerings at the prices that folks once bought their 970/390s at... well there's nothing there. RX 480 is side-grade and 1060 isn't worth it either.

Well I'm sorted. I have a PC and consoles. Worst case scenario... I stay at 1080p with the PC. And I'm stil shocked at how cheap the PSPro is... even if it's 1440p upscaled to 4k and not true 4k, that's still probably better value than a 1070 currently is lol.

Regardless of GPUs, I still want a nice new 1440p144Hz monitor. Any good ones? I don't mind FreeSync, even if I'm stuck on an Nvidia card for a long time.

That and it's only really affecting those of us who have that upgrade itch. Sane folks who keep their GPUs for a few years will be fine for a long while.

Ay this is what I ended up doing after initially regretting buying a GTX 1080. (So expensive)

Got a 1070 for £350 and doing good until the real high end cards appear from both camps later on.

Mind you if pricing is just as crazy I will just stick with my 1070 until the next wave of cards after that.

Yeah, 1080 is too expensive for what it is IMO. I would have had to pay around £200 more than I did, for what? 20% extra performance?

When you realise that 20% extra performance would be gobbled up by a switch that says Ultra instead of Very High and in most cases your eyes would not be able to see the difference while actually playing, only on stills. It's like, nah...

Yeah, if Vega does not match or beat my expectations, I will just wait for the 1170
