When is vega actually expected?
I knew it wouldn't be Q1 but this is just dragging now.

If you or anyone else wants to save time, just come back in about 6 weeks time. I am pretty sure there will be some info by thenThe thought crossed my mind earlier
And yeah, I know what it's like in here, which is why I just avoid it.
Tend to only come back when something releasing imminently, or just released.
It's just so unnecessary. And completely baffling how people can be so blindly brand centric.
Oh well.
It never was Q1. It has always been H1 which pretty much means Q2 anywayWhen is vega actually expected?

I'm going with a paper launch end of May and availability 2/3 weeks later.
Plenty of news mate if you looked. Vega is coming out next week. Performance has been leaked and it will be much faster than a 1080, but slightly slower than a 1080Ti. It will be priced at £499 and will also come bundled with Prey. It is also said that driver improvements over the next few month's will likely close the gap between it and the 1080Ti. By end of the year through driver improvements it is believed it will even surpass the new Titan XP that just came out. So you are essentially getting a £1200 graphics card for under £500!
Okay. I made all that up. But honestly guys, if there is news, people will be discussing it rather than talking about something else no?
not sure why i got an email from AMD, and i'll just copy the subject as it's pretty self explanatorybut but but rumour is it's launching with Prey, which is less than 4 weeks away even though there are no pics, specs, leaks
I personally don't subscribe to that thought process, I still think June release, it's still way to quiet for a launch 4 weeks away. And just because on the Prey marketing shows best played with Vega or whatever, that's not to say it can't come at a later date.
So i don't think prey has anything to do with Vega. The notion is hardly put BAD.Experience Prey® on the new AMD Ryzen™ 5 Processors.
It was always "by end of H1" (end of June), never was Q1.When is vega actually expected?

Why in god's name would you tie a hardware launch with a game launch? The implications are quite serious for both companies. What if the game has very nice story and gameplay, but it's riddled with bugs. -> bad PR for bethesda = bad PR for AMD.
What if for some reason it doesn't work properly on nVidia -> game gets bad rep = AMD gets a LOT of slack.
You will know when you need to worry about Vega as Gibbo will have a big pre-order Vega thread
I lol'd, as pointed out most of the threads in the sub-forum are nonsense, with no real news or information just people arguing.
However, you make a good point £499 seems to be where it would make the most impact if it was 1080+ performance, as I am pretty sure there would need to be price adjustments across the board to make sure Nvidia didn't just make the most expensive card, rather than the fastest but also the most expensive, now that I think about it maybe Nvidia think price is a new performance metric that they are measured against.
It's up 374% in the last 52 weeks, that is short term.I don't think this is doing AMD's share price any favors, not in the short term at least.
Assassin's Creeds, Watchdogs, W3, the worst being Batman: Arkham Knight(which was withdrawn from sale and refunds issued) although wasn't Nv's fault(SLi was disabled but nevertheless SLi support falls under the GW's program), probably more.
Most other GW's titles until very recently have been shrouded in controversy from having sometimes massive iq performance penalties to hurting AMD but more importantly Nv's own customers-or GW's never done any wrong depends what side of the GW's fence you sit on-I'll reiterate and say GW's fence because there is a massive amount of Nv customers unhappy with the way it's deployed, it isn't solely an AMD v Nv rabble.
I'm pretty sure Big Vega will be more than £500,
The Fury was more than that and it wasn't as fast as Nvidia's £500 980ti.
I think we are looking at anywhere from £600 to £800+ for good models just like the 1080ti,
I'm guessing it will price match the 1080ti even though it is not as fast as the 1080ti overall,
They did it with the Fury X and they'll do it again with Big Vega.

I don't know what price Vega will be, but, you can't base it on the price of the FuryX. That was AMD trying a new process with HBM and the card came with an AIO cooler.
I have been noticing more and more monitors are just using the label adaptive-sync instead of freesync. Could it be Nvidia will support it soon? That's right folks, you heard it here first

They only price match with Fury X due to the water cooling and most likely due to it being there first HBM card. The air cooled pro was just about matching the gtx980 in price. If it's faster than a 1080ti i see them price matching but no way if it's slower. If they did price match the 1080ti and were slower they would just be committing suicide where sales were concerned.
