I really hope they release a water cooled one like Fury X, just without the whine. If priced competitively I think I would be all over it :)

why not do what nvidia does and offer a basic version for those of us with custom loops and let the other manufacturers release their own versions?

Hopefully they won't add metallic dye to the mix and rename the reference.

But agree with Toss3, leave it to the aib's like they used to, at least then their QC can miss that particular pitchforking topic leaving them to concentrate on the other negatives they'll no doubt get (mostly)from people that are never going to buy them anyway.

They can do that sure. Problem I see with letting other manufacturers releasing their version is, they end up charging a lot more for it.

Why not release an air and watercooled version though? The watercooled one can have higher clocks and be the less noisy version for say £50 more.

sorry, i probably wasn't too explicit. I was referring to the fact that none of those games launched in a combined event with one of NV's GPU. What GW does and how it affects AMD customers is known. I don't like it and i think nVidia has need able to pull it off simply because of the market share it has.

To be fair if I absorbed more of your post I'd have realised your talking about a game/hardware launch:cool:, so yes it's a risky move, games been hyped up that much it could be duff, be 'just a Bioshock in space', every game has launch issues of some kind.

if they do this they will have no AIB wanting to work with them. Where's the AIB going to make money from? they sure didn't make a lot with the Fury X! What will companies like His, Sapphire do? their margin for profit is quite small if they only change the sticker here and there.
If you think about it for this perspective, nVidia has been very good with the AIB, we've seen aggressive launches, multiple gpu's for the entire market.

What you mean like what Nvidia do with their Titan series and FE's?

I do not see the issue here, their partners can still sell what they want. It will essentially be like a reference card, but a reference watercooled version.

Don’t think I would go with a liquid cooled GPU this time. Firstly, I would not trust AMD to go with one that was not completely ****** and secondly, they are a pain in the balls to install. I will miss the low temp though.

It isn't game changing though. For people who have good quality TVs now they won't notice that much difference if they switch to a HDR TV.
I disagree.

Sure, some people might not notice. But a lot of 'average people' couldn't tell the difference between 480i and 720p back when I was selling TV's at Circuit City. Some people just dont have an eye for image quality whatsoever. My mom regularly still watches SD channels when she's got an HD option and just doesn't realize it even today.

For those that do have an eye for IQ, proper HDR(1000+ nits, 10-bit, proper contrast ratio) with good HDR content is going to be a game-changer. The type of thing that once you have it, you wont ever want to go back.

Depends on what type of case you have. I have a full tower so it will take me maybe a few minutes longer to install, if that.

You better keep telling yourself that after you get your overpriced Nvidia card. I mean, it's better to live in a lie than in regret, right?

:D
We all delude ourselves on a daily basis, one more delusion won't hurt :D

/strokes Aorus...

Of course we do,

But,

and tomorrow morning you'll wake up back in your

The radiator on the FuryX is bigger than a normal 120mm and I have a H105 that was in the top, I ended up having to move the H105 to the front and have the FuryX radiator in the top. An air-cooled card takes seconds to install, a liquid cooled one can involve having to move things about, more so when they decide to use a strange size radiator. The case is 540 Air, so it has just as much room as a tower.

They only price match with Fury X due to the water cooling and most likely due to it being there first HBM card. The air cooled pro was just about matching the gtx980 in price. If it's faster than a 1080ti i see them price matching but no way if it's slower. If they did price match the 1080ti and were slower they would just be committing suicide where sales were concerned.
The first of the aircooled Fury pro's was the stock Tri-x at either £430 or 440 (I can't remember which now) and the overclocked model that I got was £450.

I don't know what price Vega will be, but, you can't base it on the price of the FuryX. That was AMD trying a new process with HBM and the card came with an AIO cooler.

This time I expect it'll be because of us leaving Europs as well as it having HBM 2 and double the amount of HBM,
I bought the Sapphire Fury pro from OCUK and that was a cut down air-cooled model with a £449.00 pricetag on release.
With everything taken into account I just can't seeing it costing less.
I'll be happy to be proven wrong though :D

This would not occur however if some research/planning was done prior to purchasing no?

The thought crossed my mind earlier :)

And yeah, I know what it's like in here, which is why I just avoid it.

Tend to only come back when something releasing imminently, or just released.

It's just so unnecessary. And completely baffling how people can be so blindly brand centric.

Oh well.

Marketing (half) works!

AMD is on record as saying they don't want to be the budget brand and will need to be more careful with profit margins in order to have healthy R&D. hence the FuryX had equal RRP as the 980ti despite being unambiguously slower on release. I wouldn't expect a change form that strategy. With HBM2 their margin will already be lower than Nvidia's at equal price points so there is onyl so much under cutting they could do.

With BREXIT then UK pricing might disappointing people who seem to ignore forex issues when blaming Nvida's pricing (which in USD has barely changed in decades when accounting for inflation)

When’s the last time you got a tape measure out when ordering a GPU not taking about length lol, anyway it's not a big deal it just air cooled cards are easier to install and live with in my opinion.

I don't have to, pretty much everything fits. That is the beauty of having a big case, no need to worry, will it fit, won't it fit... :D

But I get your point :)

That's why it isn't a game changer. You are just offering slightly better picture quality that most people won't even notice.
