I'd def have more confidence in Vega if Polaris wasn't so average tbh. It's just a verrrrrrrry big gap between that and the 1080Ti !
The same can be said for the 1060 and the 1080ti. Now I know that there is also the 1070 and the 1080 but that doesnt mean that AMD will have to do it the same way and release a 1070/1080(but I think they will) comparable product before there can be a contender for the 1080ti. Considering what we have seen so fare from the AMD doom 4k demoes and what ive seen on youtube on the 1080ti (watch?v=khGomVa0FZY ) Vega looks very competitive with the 1080ti. Of course that is just one game and on vulkan where AMD shines already so there is no telling how other games will perform. I do think there is more reason to be optimistic than pessimistic, within reason of course. So no preorders people!!! :p

Also the price of the 580 and the fact Vega will use HBM2, means we are probably looking at very expensive cards.
The price of the 580 is gouging for sure it has to be. The retail price is so fare off the MSRP atm. However i think your right in regards to HBM2. I would not be surprised if big vega(gaming card not MI25) is 600 USD.

Yeah. It is logical that if the new process meant it is cheaper. They have a lot of room to sell them cheaper than now and maintain the same profits og the 400 series.

It will also be optimized for Inbtel I7s and Pascal GPUs,hardly very exciting

You making it out like I saying it wouldn't be??

This is great and its how games should be on PC optimised for all hardware!!

Talking about optimisation for hardware isn't it ironic that the best known optimised games on PC are the ones when AMD have been partnership and the ones with the worst performance have Nvidia on the box!! Mmmmmm

Interesting!

I honestly hope that AMD are fooling us all and deliver the biggest knockout punch in history! That's including Rocky vs Drago too :D

FuryX was expensive for what it was, and from memory (no pun intended) they never actually dropped the price of those...

Actually it didn't. Nvidia won market share for 6 straight quarters when ATI released the 9700 pro.
I did not say anything about market share. The 9700 was a much better card and it made NVidia’s card look ****. Even if Vega is 2x faster than the fastest NVidia card, NVidia cards will still sell more. It will take more than one generation at the top to change that, people are still going on about AMD bad driver's but that has not be the case for years.

From what i have seen yea it never but come the 9800 they started to take market share, it was surely the start of ATI gaining mind share as arguably Nvidia had the better cards with the 6 series but ATI took market share from them. This graph shows what happened and the 9 series did eventually gain a lot of market share.
