As much as I would love a new vega10 in time for Christmas, I'm going to be a pessimist this time. I don't think it will happen. Although if it dose I can be pleasantly surprised.

Seems odd to make HBM2 run so slowly, at 256 GB/s.

And equally odd to bother using HBM2 on a 7 Tflop card.

GDDR5 at 384-bit, or GDDR5X at 256-bit would both be faster and cheaper as far as I know?

Nah I was but I brought a 1070, might get a Vega IF it is as good as a Titan XP for £500 but that is a pipe dream.

Fair one. On a serious note though, I do hope it is seriously quick but don't think I will be jumping on it but then again, I have said these things before and gone against myself, so best to wait before making any decisions.

Yep unless by some miracle nvidia decides to support freesync

Yer, that is a bit crap for us Sync screen owners, as if we want to keep our clever stuff, we are pretty much tied in with who we have now (G-Sync or Freesync). I personally would hate to give up my screen but there is some good choices out there that could tempt me.

Yep if nvidia did do freesync I think I would already have a 1080, I quite like the gigabyte like yours

Is anyone still waiting for Vega to drop? If so, I hope it is seriously quick and an overclockers dream :D

I have a 1070, but two older 1920x1080 IPS monitors. No sync tech or above 60 Hz.

So I'm hoping top Vega to be faster than a 1080, and then I'll go for it + new high Hz freesync monitors. Would work out considerably cheaper than going for a 1080 + Gsync monitors.

I keep seeing that 1080p is best at 24" if on a tn panel. if I got an RX 470 would I get much worth out of freesync?

Well l would argue that 1200p is better(for gaming, general usage except video viewing) for a 24" but unfortunately most new 24" screens are 1080p.

Each monitor has a different Freesync range though. If the 470 can keep within the monitor's freesync range it should deliver a smother experience than without it.

They have variable frequency right? Say like it can push 144frames in something like Siege or CS:Go but not Deus EX of course, could I set the frequency lower on some models?

If it can outperform a Titan XP at roughly half the price, then yes. But, the cynic in me is doubtful. I'm waiting for anything powerful from AMD, especially now that I've got a FreeSync monitor arriving today. I'll be waiting a long time I guess.

Yep im still waiting with my 290 and Freesync screen, if Nvidia supported Freesync i would have probably bought 2 x 1070 by now though.

I am under no illusion that Vega will probably be rubbish however, given the utter lack of OC'ing on the Fiji cards i am not confident that HBM based cards will ever see much in the way of OC potential.

I am also wary of Reference versions, i wont be spending a single penny on a Ref AMD card ever again.

Power draw is irrelevant for me, i have a 1000w Plat rated PSU, and the extra pennies it costs a year are pittance, so its a non issue.

I expect the card to drop in around 1080 performance, potentially between 1080 and Titan Pascal, but be closer to the 1080 in price.

Just want a better price to performance ratio tbh I don't care who makes it, the 1080 is well engineered but totally unrealistic in its pricing.

All this talk of Vega competing with the 1080, I don't here anyone mentioning competing with the 1070, but surely they'd have one, right?
