There are a few problems with this first I have to find someone else's that is willing to do this, if I find that person then it also must have a psu with 2x 8pin and so on...

plus for a couple of weeks I will left with the iGPU meaning I will not be able to play any games, this is just not going to happen, I will probably throw the 390 in the bin, an get a GTX1080 and call it a day.

That's just silly, Send it back with info on the timescale rather than throw it in the bin after buying a 1080, That said if it only happens every couple of weeks or so just put up with it.

5% off of a 1080 at 1080p. Probably posted already.

TDP of 225W could be a consideration for me as the cooler the better as my case doesn't have great cooling.

So the take away from that article is maybe AMD are aiming for the 4k market. It would put the cat amongst the pigeons if AMD made 4k gaming more mainstream. Only issue with this is this would only be in highly AMD optimised games. I cant imagine a Vega card doing well across a whole lot of Gameworks titles at 4k.

Also all the game demos we've seen so far have been 4k!

I said it a few weeks back... and people didn't believe me. I also said that this HBCC was for 4k and VR.

Uh oh, looks like Frontier high-end only at first with the rest of the line-up to follow. Am guessing they just really had problems hitting the timescale they committed to;

I'm expecting £800+ for these babies (air-cooled), 16GB HBM2 ain't gonna be cheap...

There never was a launch at the Financial Analyst Day before, this is no exception. They will launch them at Computex probably.

Frontier is a workstation card. It's not relevant for gaming, but was unveiled at an analysts meeting in relation to winning professional business. The gaming/consumer cards will be unveiled at Computex at the end of May with assumed launch/availability by June.

Ok, I may have jumped the gun a bit then.

This bit got me;

"The Vega Frontier Edition will be the first cards to ship, and as per the company’s earlier promise of an H1’17 launch, the cards will be available in late June."

So technically they're keeping their promise of a H1 launch...

Like Steampunk said, this is the workstation card and Computex 'should' be where we see the gaming cards launched or at least a paper launch.

The Radeon Vega Frontier Edition graphics card is going to empower the pioneers creating the next generation of gaming experiences, but it does beg one question: Can you game on a Radeon Vega Frontier Edition? The answer is yes, absolutely. But because this graphics card is optimized for professional use cases (and priced accordingly), if gaming is your primary reason for buying a GPU, I’d suggest waiting just a little while longer for the lower-priced, gaming-optimized Radeon RX Vega graphics card. You’ll be glad you did.

Like I said, Christmas. lol
Frontier Edition is late June and Vega RX after.

I think I will keep my Fury Nitro and maybe upgrade next year or something.

Maybe I woke up cynical but. It seems to me that if Vega isn't releasing untill H2. It's not Pascal it has to beat... It's volta. It's all well and good comparing it to 1080/1080Ti etc. But the 1080 has been out for a year now. So unless you want to buy a card that will likely be bested in a few months or so. It really needs to be compared to Volta. If Volta turns out to beat Vega then where does that leave AMD. "AMD had a competitive card... For 6 months..." It's just not good business.
it's like you have a problem with AMD completing their line up, don't you want them to have cards in 300-500$ segment ? even if it's 5 years late and even if it's doesn't beat TitanXp, that doesn't strip it from any value in that 300-500$ compared to the competition...and vega won't be bested by volta in the next half of the year, because in order to do that they would have to beat the 1080Ti that they released a month ago, and from the games they showed so far, vega is slower than the Ti but not by much.

Well I am looking forward to getting the Vega RX card if it's just a cut down Vega FE, since I use my GTX 1080's for compute mainly (no never gaming), and it might even be cheaper than a 1080. :)

I can certainly live with top Vega being 10-15% faster than the 1080, as long as the HBCC tech improves the minimums overall for a nicer gaming experience :)

That may make a big difference.
I said this many times but some people are too much in denial.

VEGA is more towards pro consumer market than gaming. AMD VEGA will not even properly beat GTX 1080 leave alone GTX 1080 TI in 95% of gaming titles.

Unfortunately I'm getting the same impression. It's a 1080 competitor and it'll be evenly matched with some games won by the Vega and some by the 1080.
Yep. This is been my stance on Vega also. It needs to be able to deal with Pascal easily, as by the time it is out Volta will be not far away and let's be honest Volta will likely easily beat Vega. I can see Volta 2070/80 beating the best Vega. This is why I hope they do not price Vega silly as I will just end up waiting.

AMD will be lucky if they can have 6 months being top dog to be honest. They are jumping straight to 7nm with Navi and even Vega I think so they can easily go back to the top in 2019 if Navi architecture is any good. But knowing GloFo the process will be late and **** some how. Lol

I don't think they're going to get Top Dog status, As is usually the case they show us a snippet of gaming in a title they do well in but, The performance is slower than a 1080ti, Considering that it's one of their strong showings the overall picture will only be in the 1080 range. Price is the big question. That'll save it or kill it.

I doubt the Frontier will cost $1000, most likely a lot more as it's essentially a Radeon Pro and Instinct card according to them.
It is in same niche as Titan Xp.

I'm guessing Frontier belongs to >$500 spot on this picture.
