AMD VEGA confirmed for 2017 H1

What FPS are you getting on average with it? 1080p is it?

Yeah looks like the devs still need a lot of work, then again a game published by Bethesda, kinda to be expected :p

I wonder if you'll also see a performance drop once it gets fixed, as NVIDIA losing nearly 20% is rough.

Well I have got to the lobby and I play with vsync so it has been locked to 60 the entire time @ 2560x1080 21.9

Just quickly launched now and turned off vsync and as you can see I am also missing shadows in the same area above too:

And after reapplying screen space reflections:

What was interesting though is that I switched to the "very high" preset rather than having it set to "custom" (despite everything being maxed) and the god rays appeared:

However, shadows are still missing for the above areas..... But.... look at the FPS drop:

And yup definitely a lot of work to be done, so many issues with the game:

- game not starting for a lot of people, myself included at the start, had to run it in windows 8 compatibility mode, works fine without it now for some reason though....
- audio glitches with npcs, either no sound at all or very low
- save files getting broke
- a certain area where FPS plummet....

etc.

No issues here with my prey game :D I have footage of all my playthrough so far so I can grab some images.

Would definitely like to see screenshots of the above areas as looking on reddit, neogaf, a large majority of people are having the same issues and as linked above, the developers have even confirmed a problem with screen space reflection.

18 FPS drop when the God Rays are enabled with Very High settings, that's huge.

RX 580 got a nice 4.5% overall boost, with users claiming up to 12% in some areas; and it seems that renders all the goodies.

Hopefully by the time Vega is out, all this rubbish is sorted.

Should be hopefully.....

I am holding of on playing the game now until all the issues are sorted, hopefully it won't be too long otherwise I will have lost interest and probably not bother with the game until years later...

I still can't play Nier Automata properly because of the "White Screen" bug. Wanting to get a Vega card partly just to fix that.

Its hard for me to capture a moving screenshot from my stream but you can clearly see all my shadows working here, the first two are 720p 60fps the rest 1080p 60fps I wasn't sure I would be able to stream at such quality.

I dont understand though me and Nexus are both running the same GPU 290 from MSI how can I have all the effects working and he can't ?? It doesnt make sense

It looks like a game issue down to their Custom settings vs Very High, with more issues thrown in.
Before their latest patch NVIDIA cards didn't render any of it, no matter the settings; and now it seems some cards are getting settings randomly on and off as well.

Looks like another patch or two will be needed; and I still think it might be down to the game "dynamic IQ scaling". Digital Foundry found that while the GTX 1050 was faster than the RX 460; the game would dynamically scale down IQ and textures to keep performance up. So much so that they could visibly see the texture change, to the lowest quality ones possible.

I still think that is bugged and might do it to other effects like lighting and shadows; which would explain why the developers are telling people to manually turn them back on, restart, and all that to get the effects working again.

Yup PC gaming is just getting more frustrating every year I find now... Either a poorly performing release or/and buggy or/and missing graphical effects that takes 6 months to work as it should have on day 1....

Only watched the first one to see the heli and test subject area and yeah looks to be working fine regarding shadows + light shafts.

Very odd, I'm guessing it is just the game being broken.

Switching from "custom" preset to "very high" preset only brought back the light shafts for me, it didn't bring the shadows back.

Have also read that, some people said their game was fine before the last patch but now it has broke the graphical effects for them.

GG bethesada.....

Maybe his system is broken and he is blaming it on developers :p

You on ultrawide shanks? Could be ultrawide is broken :D;)

I hope the RX Vega version is one of these. Looks fantastic.

As long as they have that videocardz logo on them, I'm sold! :-D

Have you all checked if Colours are set to 'limited' in Nvidia control Panel?

Nvidia control panel -> display -> change resolution -> select monitor and scroll down -> RGB and output dynamic range: full

It defaults to 'limited' which crushes dynamic range to 16-235 steps per colour, instead of 0-255.

Why do they do that? Is it a performance thing? A compatibility thing?

Or to put the question another way: why does AMD then NOT do that?

P.S. Honest question; please don't fight over this!

As far as I know it's just something to do with TV standards.

Most (and definitely cheaper) TVs use limited dynamic range to save on costs. And Nvidia cards sometimes thing monitors are TVs, usually if they have speakers and HDMI.

Am playing 2560x1440p

Must be his "the way it's meant to be played, immersive" ultrawide causing the issue then :p

Yeah haha, leave it to wccft to steal the man's work and put their own watermarks over it, and remove his.
Not suprised one bit. Those guys will do anything for hits.

Cannot believe AMD quoted them. I could not give two ***** about the joke Raja made, but quoting wccftech was :o
