AMD - What can they do to improve?

Anandtech disagrees, I'll believe them I think :)

New pre complied effects which could be done before which dont look any better than before which the most noticeable is the hair and fur and the hair have been done yonks ago and is down to a matter of opinion to whether they are good in any given title. The witcher 3 and the batman game is the only thing im looking forwards to and it looks like the The witcher 3 may make good use of the hair for a change, but it has been done before, TressXF.

Quite amazing when you consider they're fighting a battle on two fronts.

Even more amazing that they managed to KO Intel on one occasion, and force Intel to change the direction they were heading with their CPUs.

Socket s939 A64 range, my introduction to pc's. They were cracking chips and very well priced too.

Out side of some enthusiasts that KO made no difference, Intel changed because given enough time it could have.

Not a single one of my friends or enthusiasts that i knew personally had AMD/ATI, they all told me to build a P4 and NV rig, but i did my homework and built an AMD/ATI rig.

So I ask again, what do you think AMD need to do to improve market share?

Amd need to market their products as good as Nvidia. For those who know Amd cards are every bit as good as Nvidia's and better value as well they have already won them over but for the joe blogg average user who still has it in their mind Nvidia are better they have to win them over.

I also don't think dumping the ATi brand helped AMD at all. To the average user AMD would have appeared as a 'new' graphics brand and been waaaaay behind nVidia in the all-important 'mindshare'

Hey Mr Lower Mid-range, maybe you could give them a loan to help them out ;) :p

j/k

Yer, those chips were awesome and a real win for AMD. I think that was the last AMD chip I had though and no idea why it went wrong after that. A shame really and it would be good to see them giving some to Intel as well as nvidia.

See, you can join into the discussion final8y. Isn't that better than just picking holes?

Agree completely.

I also think we saw the seminal Bloomfield i7 a good deal quicker than we would have done without AMD.
A platform that is still going strong even now, moreso when you factor in the very cheap price of the hex core chips such as the 5650. Gives a whole new lease of life to X58.

Ha Ha. I think I will keep my money. :) Will help them out in buying their products so unless Nvidia change their tune and provide similar performing cards for the same value that might be for a good while. By the way your system will be lower mid-range soon. That's the way it goes in PC components.

Just for once can we have a conversation that does not have a couple of Q"&*%$£ arguing?

Just for once in a while i would like to see some opinions from others in a thread who haven't completely lost the bloody plot!

Nobody is arguing dude, it just looks like you don't like hearing it.

You could spend all day going around the houses of way to improve but at the base of everything it boils down to invitation and staying ahead or on the apex of the curve, something they've been missing for a considerable length of time now or so it feels like.

Everything else comes secondary. Mantle is almost a selfless ideal but in reality it doesn't sell GPUs and it isn't likely to now
