what CPU did u have before this one broon ?

:o
Sorry for delay. I had the last page open in a seprate window from my browsing one and just kept checking back every few mins. I missed the new page starting.

Anyway I had a Venice 3200+ before clocked at 2.35Ghz. This is a great chip. :D
I am goint to OC to 2.6Ghz and encode another DVD to test stabality. I will post again if this goes well but either way you won't be disapointed.

Hmm that didn't take as long as expected. Windows refused to boot at 2.65. :(
I could increase the voltage slightly more, set RAM to run slower, lower HTT farther ect but I think I will leave that until another day. 500 free Mhz is still a good OC. :D
Out of intrest do you know to what degree running my chip at 2.5 will shorten it's lifespan?

Even if prices don't officially drop, I can see lots of early adopters buying AM2 cpu's and selling their old 939 chips on the Members Market, so hopefully I will be able to find a bargain there.

I'm hoping too, but they seem to be fetching quite a bit over on the auction site, if I was selling I'd probably head there instead :(

to be honest broon i think 2.5 is a great overclock . i would be happy at 2.4 not sure about the life of a O\C chip but for me it dont matter as i only keep them for about a year at the most
:)

Should have close to NO DIFFERENCE, of course if you're running it cool, that is...

got mine today .not had time to test it yet( maybe the weekend ) all i can say at the moment is. its not the same stepping as gibbo said

The first of the 060x's did 2.7ghz under stock volts. 3ghz on air was relatively easy. So i don't think these are fantastic steppings. So i wouldn't call 2.5ghz with a slightly increased voltage much good.

Not criticising you Broon, just saying. Good work nonetheless.

Most LDBHE 0601 were amazing, but you really can't expect that sort of oc from any cpu...

I recieved my OEM x2 3800+ last friday and had a bash at overclocking it last night. Got it to 2.5 on stock vcore (well as stock as the a8r32-mvp gets...) and could boot at 2.7, just need to back of the memory timings and maybe bump the vcore a little to see if that makes it stable.

Any suggestions what max vcore should be?? I'm running a XP90c with a Panaflow 92mm fan. Seeing 48c under max load (2xprime95)

Hey j1nxy.

would you mind posting up your bios settings? htt, multis, volts etc.

I have the same mobo and Im finding it really hard to clock my 3800+.

I grabbed these from another forum and other than adjusting for the x2 3800 and the memory they are pretty much what I used.
