AMD X2 4400 and 4800 Socket 939 1MB Cache CPU's - NEW LOW PRICES!!

Ordered myself a 4400+, a scyth ninja, some AS5 and a 120mm amber. Ill post what ill get on monday.

The stock ninja fan and akasa amber perform exactly the same in my testing, both in noise and air shifted. I ended up using a Yate Loon as it was silent and temps only went up by 1 or 2 degrees.

just done some brief overclocking on my 4800+

tried 2640 (220x12) with the voltage set at 1.45 in bios but s&m crashed.
upped the voltage to 1.50 and it seems ok - note that my MB always undervolts so programs in windows show the volts to actually be about 1.46v

i'll keep it like this for a bit to confirm its stable and then try and go higher

have received confirmation of delivery from the city link website so now i just need to get home from work and i can start overclocking it :D

(feels like christmas) !

will post results up asap hopefully will get 2.6+ otherwise will be a bit dissapointed and can see it mm in a few weeks :p

I have now sold my 4400+ for 150 quid :(

made a bit of a loss but the performance / voltage really wasnt up to scratch, ended up spending out on a dual core'd opteron 170, which the seller has had at 2.7ghz with 1.53 V (still not the best, but far from bad - and thats the same voltage it took to get my 4400 stable at 2.55)!

Hi everyone im back with my 4400 sittting nicely in its socket - running quite nicely so far going to start overclocking now

So far stock temps -

Idle - 38ish

load - 45ish

also i put a pea sized amount of as5 in the middle of the cpu - is that okay ?

Right sitting at 2.42 @ 1.4v at the moment - seems preety stable not thoroughly tested it but its running as quick as my [email protected] used to with more potential hopefully to come

forgot to mention what stepping it is :-

CCBWE 0543 MPM

Hows anyone else getting on with this chip ?

one of my CCBWE 0604MPM is stable at 2640 (240*11) 1.43~v (cant quote the exact voltage as at work)

2.6 was the goal so not going to bother trying for higher.

The other one is still at stock for some reason... sure that can be fixed though.

Had my 4400+ for about a week now It's at 2.7Ghz 300x9 using 1.55v under water, but looks like it may top out there, bit more tinkering to do though, was hoping for a bit more though :( Can't complain i suppose

Idling @29C & 40C Load

Stepping is CCBWE 0609DPMW

2.7 isnt too bad u have to remember that the 1mb l2 cache models dont clock as well as the 512s anyway

To really be effective u need to spread the as5 so it provides a thin film, i find the edge of a credit card is good for this, preferably an old one :D

are u sure? im sure i heard that a pea sized amount in the middle of the cpu was enough and the pressure from the heatsink spreaded it out?

thats what i heard - you get no air pockets that way

I tend to use cling film on the finger technique... pea sized blob in the middle if i'm feeling lazy...

Can't really say i've noticed a temp difference doing either... it's just "tradition" for me I guess :P.

cool, either way it seems to be doing an ok job.

so how is everyone/anyone else getting on with their 4400's ?

pushed mine up to 2.5 just now going to keep gradually increasing it

I recived a 4400 yesterday, 2.7 seems as fast as I can push it at the moment. On 1.55v.

Still some improvment over my opteron 146 which started getting a bit twitchy at anything to far over 2.5.

What are the temps like on a 4400 vs a 3500+ without o/c?

Thinking of upgrading (although not convinced I'll see much difference) and want to avoid upgrading my cooling unless absolutely necessary!

Also depends what 3500 it is?

my old 3500 was a newcastle cored 130nm chip and the difference is quite noticable
