AMD X2 Socket 939 Prices now dropped !! (X2 3800 @ £99)

Was waiting for this have just placed my order for a 3800+ x2 Socket 939

Cheers guys

Marc

Gonna start pestering you soon for what memory best to stick in my k8n-neo4-f board. Did make a purchase of ebay earlier for a Asus Extreme N6600 Silencer 256MB for just over £20 i know a lot of you guys will snigger at this card but at the moemnt i just need to get my monitor attached and get my rig up and running and in a few months have 100 quid to spend on a card

This is just too good to be true. We consumers are in a win-win situation. Those with single core 939s can now afford dual core 939s. Or new buyers can choose a cheap AM2 rig or a cheap Conroe rig.

Thank you AMD/Intel/OcUK :D

dang it i just don;t know how much difference in speed i will see using a x2 3800 over my overclocked opteron? would there be an advantage to the x2 that will pull out over the opteron high clock speed of 2.9ghz?

Damn :(

I was under the impression that ocuk SKT 939 stock would be gone before the price drops came in ( Silly Me )

So i bought a AMD 4400+ Of the MM For £185 :(

It does 2.6 GHZ Per core which is FX60 speeds ? so i suppose i shouldnt be too annoyed :p

Lovely jubbly - my A64 3200 was feeling a bit creaky yet I can't really afford to fork out for new CPU/mb/ram in order to get Conroe goodness, so a X2 4600 @ £176 fits the bill perfectly. :)

Hmm, 939 4600+ x2, with a cheap asrock sli32 mobo and 2 gig of pc3200 ram, OR AM2 4600+ x2, expensive am2 mobo, and expensive ddr2 800 ram? what you reckon, considering i probably wont upgrade it before the whole thing needs changing again anyway.

Hi there

The 4000 is faster than the X2 3800 if your gaming, so don't be worried about it. :)

Guess I'll need to start gaming more then :D

I was mainly looking for even more speed with my audio processing applications, so I am sure a slightly clocked 4000+ will destroy my slightly clocked 3000+

blimey

I was going to go conroe and spend around 600 quid...

But I think Ill just get the 4600 instead and save my money.

Would I be right in thinking that if I'm not planning to overclock, it doesn't really matter than the current A64 4000+'s at OcUK are clawhammers? They're gonna be just as quick as a San Diego at stock speeds right?

The extra heat doesn't bother me either, it'll still probably be cooler and less power hungry than my Prescott.
