AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

I would imagine they are flat out with getting orders processed, which is a good thing. Wish the 3900X page would get updated though! Other suppliers are saying Monday/Tuesday for stock.

See thread in deals section update is in there. :)

It's a bit disappointing so far - seems like something amiss with the 3800's and there's not a lot of info coming out. Thought long and hard about spending just shy of £1k on an upgrade treat and am beginning to wish I hadn't bothered......

EDIT: Will check out Gibbo's update that arrived the same time as I posted

probably for the most part but there'll have been those who simply couldn't wait. then there'll probably a number of 'outliers' who bought the 3900x for gaming - if the 3800x proves to be substantially better for gaming than it they'll be the ones most likely to be annoyed. but that's assuming it's substantially better than the other chips.
it's most likely not going to be that different and almost certainly not going to be some super chip but there has to be a reason why they don't exist in the wild yet.

If you don’t the performance gap is much then why did think people will be upset. Your posts make no sense.

Quick question. What make of RAM are you running? I am trying to find out if Ryzen 3000 still likes the Samsung B-die or I just go with any 3200MHz or 3600MHz.

Sorry didn't see this.

I'm using some Ballistix 3200CL16, changed up the frequency to 3466 with no issues. Wouldn't do 3600 but might with some tweaking. I'm on a B450 board by the way.

You shouldn't need Samsung B-die any more. If you have then great but we're talking double the cost.

It seems MSI have dropped another BIOS update today, anyone tried it out yet?

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450M-MORTAR

Updaded on my Mortar.

Very small / margin of error gains in Cinebench:

SC 505 - > 509
MC 4764 - > 4804

Couldn't see a difference in Geekbench 4 or Arma 3. PBO results are similar too.

Interestingly there's a 'Game Mode' in the Overclocking section now, **** knows what this does.

There's no 3600 c16 shown. Also a bit miss leading. A 3600x on fast ram will easily match a 3700x on average ram.

After sitting back and watching this launch, I think after a month or two I'll be going for a ryzen chip.

At present the chips look pretty decent value for money plus they don't seem to be affected by as many security issues as intel, as well as the added benefit of future proofed due to it being newer tech, I hope anyway!

I'm one of the many that are 2500k so I'm looking for something that has some longevity :)

Also still on a 2500k and I'm severely tempted to finally upgrade. This is the first upgrade that has really tempted me since building the Sandy Bridge system. I also like the idea of moving back to AMD - actually found what I think is my delidded Opteron 146 in the man cave recently.

Very similar position to me. Overdue an upgrade. Near 9900K performance is going to be a massive upgrade with the added bonus of not rewarding Intel for their incremental increases since 2011.

We still got 2 here 2500k machines... still rocking along waiting for a system down day :)
My wife's i5-2500K is being retired as soon as all the parts she needs arrive. The problem is it's paired with a non-OC board so stuck at 3.7 GHz. A lot of modern games see it pegged at 100% so everything's a stutter-fest!
