AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

I seriously don't think you will get any better than that.

Probably your Ra
Hey guys sorry if this is the wrong thread.

I have a x370 prime pro from asus. 3950x cpu and the ballistix 3000mhz memory.

I am familiar with the problems with this board when it comes to memory but I can't seem to get the ram higher then 3400mhz. It just won't boot. I need to remove 1 stick in order to boot again.

I used the ryzen ram calculator with slightly higher voltage . I don't think it's a limitation. Maybe I did something wrong. I appreciate your help.

Probably your RAM is limited, if the Calc couldn't help you further. I had a ASUS Strix x370 and 3900x with Corsair Vengeance RAM @ 3600Mhz all fine and dandy for ages. Needed the Calc to tune the correct settings. But that Ram was rated at 3200Mhz, not 3000Mhz like yours.

So, will we be relying on the 5xx series motherboards for these new CPU's or has AMD hinted at a 6xx series to support? (EDIT: I only just realized I should have been in the 4xxx series thread for this question, apologies).

Apparently there will be X670 in November-ish

"AMD would also be introducing their 600 series chipset. The flagship of them would be the AMD X670 chipset which will be replacing the X570 PCH. According to the source, AMD's X670 PCH would retain the AM4 socket and feature enhanced PCIe Gen 4.0 support and increased I/O in the form of more M.2, SATA, and USB 3.2 ports. The source adds that there are little chances of getting Thunderbolt 3 natively on the chipset but overall the X670 should improve upon the X570 platform."

Sorry for late responds, I had to bump up a timing a little higher. It works now with 3600 cl14. No problem with gaming. I just need a stresstest for stability.

It's already been reported elsewhere but I didn't realise it would be so significant. Apparently the new Agesa Combo V2 1.0.8.1 could improve intercore latencies quite significantly.
But does it also improve performance? You'd think 2ns memory latency and 10ns intercore latency improvement is easy to detect in benchmarks. Yet I have seen no benchmarks, just Aida

That is a very old rumor.
Now we are less than a month from Zen 3 launch and there are no hints about new chipset or motherboards at all. Seems X570 and B550 is all we get.

If that turns out to be the case, i actually think it's a good thing. It then means that nobody has to even think about a mobo upgrade until Zen4. All of us on X570's or B550's can be certain that our mobo's are good for Zen3+ as well.

Not sure what I'd add to b550/x570 feature wise tbh, unless there's a way to reduce chipset cost. There may well be 600 series motherboards, especially for OEMs

Like you, i don't think there will be anything to add to features. Reducing chipset cost would be irrelevant to those of us already on X570 or B550 anyway.
The only real reason for an X670 would be to keep the mobo vendors happy until the release of Zen4, but even that is silly because they could just keep selling X570 with no need to invest in X670.
