AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

if a 16 core comes out, needs to be priced to hurt i9 9900k BUT also not hurt Thread Ripper !

low core rippers still sort after for ram support and PCIe lanes, lots of companies i know run them for cheap GPU bound render machines instead of paying intel prices...

16 core TR is £600 for series One and £700 series 2 . Series 3 could be cheaper due to design costs but if they do that will lose Profit margins, just easier to keep same price but with Speed increase and power reduction.
Personally expecting Ryzen 16 core to match 9900k price tag... and people will HAPPY buy it, heck they could be aggressive in pricing and people will still buy it

Not sure a 16c mainstream will affect a 32c Threadripper purchaser to be fair. There's still many reasons to go TR over mainstream, unless you just game/stream ;)

I'm new to this thread but I've been waiting to see what Threadripper 3000 will be like as I want to upgrade my Intel i9 7900X system with a 16 core / 32 thread CPU for content creation. I'm pretty happy with my current system and could keep it for another few years but I do wish I had a more powerful CPU. I might even be tempted by the 32 core / 64 thread CPU seeing as I don't do much gaming these days.

no, but will effect TR 12 Core. interesting to see how it plays out as so far AMD doesnt have the pit falls of Intel mainstream and high end eating into each other

I think to the people who ask what do you need so many CPU threads for? I would say why not, a high performance 12 thread CPU can be had for little over £100 now and with it you can use your PC in such a way that you gon't have to go around shutting stuff down before playing games.

Is that not a more convenient way of using your PC?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against AMD shoving more cores on, as there is a need in the market for that, albeit a small section of the market.

I'm just saying I prefer higher per core IPC/Frequency over more cores for my use. 6c/12t CPU is plenty for what I use the PC for, but the current Ryzen's just haven't got the per core frequency that I would like. I simply went with Ryzen this time around due to cost.

I'm hoping the 3000 series will have improved the per core performance, and not just added more cores as this will inevitably lead me back to Intel and having to stump up the cash for their CPU's instead.

how often are you making content ? is it for work or pleasure ? your 7900x is no slouch.

It is more the virtual machines I use for programming. If you have 4 or 5 virtual machines running each with 2 to 4 cores allocated to them then it starts to use a lot of CPU even on the 7900X at 4.4Ghz. Plus I also do video and music editing on the machine.

You are afraid that the top Ryzen 3000 will still be somewhat slower than i9-9900K?
Well, I think we will see at least two Ryzen 7s and Ryzen 9s which will be faster. If not Ryzen 5s as well.

New Ryzen 5 faster than i9-9900K.
Why are you AMD fanboys so obsessed with beating the 9900k cant you afford one?

That's a childish remark and serves no purpose.
As much as 4K8K's making up his rhetoric.

I think beating the i9 9900K is subjective. I'd be happy if AMD are able to provide the same core for core performance, but I don't really expect it at all.

Because Intel have been the benchmark in single core performance for quite a long time, so seeing an engineering sample Ryzen 3000 match the 9900K shows that AMD have finally returned to the game and have competition and choice in the marketplace.

Alternatively, given the tone of your comment, it's also because we can't wait to see you fanboy lot cry when your precious little CPU gets battered by something half the price.

Well I sold my 9900 k for £480 a couple of weeks back :)

Numpty, you realise you joined on a page and started spouting rubbish where guys that have spent double 9900k money on a processor are talking 3rd gen TR. These are guys who spent 1k on an AMD cpu and you come out with this. Talking comparisons is one thing and is the right way to compare products.

What you are talking is something all together different and can best be described as ****.

Look at his post history, to him the 9900k is better than even Zen2 because the 9900k will still be More expensive..

The guys either trolling or a moron, either way should be ignored

First of all, I could buy ten 9900k processors if I wanted to. The reason I could afford to do so is because I dont waste my hard eared money on OVERPRICED hardware that's not worth the asking price.

Secondly, your comment is very insulting to anybody who's struggling financially and it's none of your business what we can and cant afford.

What's wrong with a spot of rivalry between Intel and AMD fans anyway? Of course I want to see my team beat the blue team.
