AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

#AllTheSevens lol

MSI went too far with the sevens on that one. I wouldn't pay £777 for a board with a cheesy name like that.

+++++++++++++1

As far as i'm concerned that is just a complete mickey take. And yep, taking the 7/7/7 theme to the limit and trying to take consumers for complete mugs at the same time
There is NO consumer mobo on the planet that is ever going to be worth that sort of money.

It is officially the most expensive AM4 motherboard on the site, with the cheesiest name to match.

So... Only a matter of time before it gets so many reviews from so-called buyers.

What if all the metal bits were pure gold and had a gold back plate?

As you may remember, I have an £800 budget for mobo and cpu. I was planning on getting the 3800 and the GB extreme. However, do you think I should stick with that combination or should I drop down to an ultra or pro mobo, but grab a 3900 instead?

I would have thought the cpu would make a bigger difference than a better motherboard.

3900x and Pro (£240-70) - depending on £££ exchange rate and *z390 pricing used as reflection *

AMD has said it will support AM4 until 2020. Would it be wise to shed a bucket load of cash on a socket that is only supported for 12-months? I would have gone for 3950X but there will something better in 12-months with better upgrade options.

I 100% agree with your thinking here. That's why, at the moment i intend to keep my CH6. Watch the reviews come in and then grab a 3950x in September if it clocks well in a CH6. I certainly wouldn't shell out for a new mobo when AM4 is going to be EOL in 12 months. The 3950x itself isn't an issue for me because i have already gone through a 1700 and am still on a 2700x. What i wouldn't do now though is buy a brand new X570 that will be EOL next year. X470 new, or second hand and a 3950x would be my route if i didn't already have an x370.

Depends on how long you plan to keep your rig. I plan on keeping mine for three years minimum, so it’s not a problem in my case.

Why should he tell you, what’s your point if he does, and what does it have to do with Ryzen?

I hate the way American language creeps into English speakers usage if it is less elegant.

Gotten...what’s wrong with got or become? We stopped using gotten years ago.
Off of...what’s the point of combining two words where one could do fine. What’s wrong with from?
Costed...this is the worst and even winds me up when used on American forums.

There’s loads.

Movie instead of film is fine and so to a point is show instead of programme.

I understand language changes but I feel better writing this.

West coast American living in the uk.

On the west coast we might use gotten in conversation but not in writing but "off of" and "costed" aren't used in either form. Perhaps more of an east coast slang. Our country is big...

As for the rest:

Movie > film
Show > programme
commercials > advertisements (ads are used by both)
for rent > to let

We have done a good job of removing the unnecessary "u" in many words and adding "z" instead of "s" where it matters.

Last but not least, using stones is a stupid form of measure. I'd even take kg over stone. It's time to let that one go....

It's always less elegant, ameriglish is horrible, when I hear Brits speaking it it's always a reliable sign that they're morons, slack-jawed idiots waiting in shops whining 'Can I get?' reeealllly ssslllooowwwwlllyyy

Obviously the US version of English is terribly inferior.

No offense people but if someone wanted English lessons, they would go to a different place and not OCUK forums. As long as no one is an a-hole to anyone else, I dont think there should be a problem.

It will be longer than that before we get a new socket, AMD said they'd maintain and support socket AM4 through 2020 so we probably won't see a new socket until 2021, some two years from now.

I thought this is a thread about Ryzen 3? So much crap being talked about.

Nothing at all wrong with taking a slight diversion now and again. After all, most of the posts in this thread are "So much crap" even when they are talking about Ryzen 2. Yes that is Ryzen 2, Ryzen 3 is a long way off yet..................................just in case you didn't know.

I think Zen 3 will be the final Ryzen generation on AM4, which will come out next year. So yes, I completely understand your thought process, and agree for the most part. If you plan on keeping the system for half a decade, it would be worth getting a decent board, but there's no need to go overkill.

The irony is that it hasn't crept into anything. American English is closer to its roots than British English. As you say, "gotten" used to be traditional in British English, and now it isn't. But that doesn't mean that it isn't accepted. There's nothing wrong with speaking properly.

I have friends in New York who use "costed." It's not a thing that I do (I have mixed heritage from Georgia, and midland UK).

It doesn't matter how "off of" is used because both forms are colloquial and strictly informal.

Lastly, "there is loads" is wrong in both American and British English. No excuse there. :p

I'm tempted by one of 4 options currently, 3800x with crosshair, 3600x with crosshair and go 8 core on refresh, 3800x and aorus ultra or 3600x and aorus ultra going 8 core on refresh. Can't see anything worth playing near maxing fast 6/12 for now.
