AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

ouch, that wont be good if other suppliers get them sooner. I suspect myself and others may jump ship.
To be fair, the 12th July is a better date than most places are giving out. I think a lot of it will be down to luck on when the orders actually come in. I was fortunate that my chosen retailer (picked them for £3 cheaper next day pre-12 delivery) just happened to get some stock and it's been picked and shipped.

I Suspect there is overtime tonight at OCUK and they have arranged extra courier collections with DPD. Gibbo is probably sat deciding what supercar to buy with his slice of profits from this launch :D. (only joking I have no idea if OCUK has a profit share scheme.)

Everywhere is July 11th or later and dates keep getting pushed back. I've seen some sellers say 20th for stock.

At least you're getting updates on here.

We're not getting updates from OCUK here, but vigilant forum users.

If someone else gets it in stock then it becomes a choice of getting it or risking further disappointment. It's not OCUKs fault but that doesn't mean people wont buy elsewhere if OCUK has none available.

The reviewers had access to newer BIOS. They just didn't use it. Some of the boards had the new 1.0.0.3 available by early / middle of last week, and they not only chose not to use that, but stuck with BIOS sometimes 2 versions earlier than that.

they probably so desperate to reach that embargo date for those clicks I expect changing bios may have slowed them down hence they didnt do it.

whats the fix?

amd give them more time to do reviews? a system without an embargo date? or change their mentality to make them realise quality means more than been first out the door?

They dont really get punished for bad reviews, people will still give them those clicks so I dont know, but to me the reviews are a mess. Just as bad as the ryzen 2000 reviews were. We will get better quality analysis over the next year or so by consumers on reddit, just need to be patient and wait for it.

This.
I would have brought one yesterday if anywhere in the UK had stock. Ended up with the MSI Prestige X570 Creation instead.

That board is of great interest to me, and that passive cooling is big factor. No need to worry about fan noise, or potential reliability over the years. The 10Gb ethernet is just a nice addon also, compared to most other board with a 2.5Gb for highend, outside of the MSI Creation, and Godlikes.

What do you mean you're not getting updates, 8Pack and Gibbo have replied in this thread at least 20 times today alone.

Not saying don't go elsewhere, I'm saying goodluck getting it anywhere.

The most important thing is to maintain 1:1 infinity fabric, 3733MHz will be unlikely, very few CPUs can achieve this, but 3600MHz is quite achievable and 3200MHz now easy, then just tighten timings best you can, we have found 3200 12-14-14-28-1T possible and 14-14-14-36-1T at 3600 using Samsung B-Die.

Thats pretty nice results, I like those latencies.

Also I have never ever managed 1T on any intel CPU yet managed it fine on my 2600X and good to hear its easy on 3000 series also.

AMD timing this event over the 4th of July weekend hit the American based reviews hard as well which did not help matters.
MSI held a event in Spain for European review sites as well late last week.

Reddit Quote:

This reviewer (never heard of him) has a 3600X beating a 9900K in games going against every reviewer out there.

He claims that (brags almost) about getting the BIOS updated before he tested as to not getting gimped results versus every other site but even then, how much faith can I put into these numbers with an X470 board. If performance is THIS good, I'll buy the 3600X over the 3700X now.

These numbers seem fishy, unrealistic at best - or has this guy managed to cure the BIOS/Nvidia driver issue?

yeah its fairly obvious a 3600X will match a 3700X in the majority of games providing you can get the clock speeds to match, 2 extra cores wont make hardly any difference. When you already have 6 cores.

3700X might be bit more future proof tho if you worried about future PS5 ports.

The fan on it only spins up under heavy load according to the review so good enough for me.

Linus said in his WAN show that AMD dropped an update on them late last after they had done their benchmarks, they redone them but were forced to work all weekend. Some reviewers would have no chance to redo 7-10 days worth of work in a few days.

I very much doubt OcUK have done much testing.

Its just a case of finding one from the right batch. Assuming 3733Mhz T1 is possible with tight timings.

They probably done more than a lot of reviewers given how rushed these reviews are :)

The reviewers seem to have just installed the hardware, and done bench runs of games, whilst people like 8pack have been fiddling with bios settings, timings etc.

The information on the 3700x has been virtually non-existent on it. We still don't know if any have come in, if anyone will be getting them or are those who pre-ordered early will get them before Friday.

Next day delivery on the 12th, which was given to us by an observant forum user, means Monday for those who paid Next day now and only if we get allocated them.

Basically it looks like next week at the earliest for me.

It's not OCUKs fault but they certainly know what is being delivered and when unless they order boxes from an xmas market not knowing what's in them.

Well his sig pic suggests he's doing quite well either way!
