Maybe I'm being dumb then lol, couldn't find the setting. I don't think it's on by default as I've done benchmarks when I boot into Windows and then again after enabling PBO via Ryzen Master

Ahhh maybe I am thinking of Precision Boost, and not Precision Boost Overdrive. I haven't done much in the way of overclocking on Zen2.

Having had the 2700 , 2700x and 3800x I think the only choice at this point , feels crap buying a 5800x for a lot more money now So go big or go home with the 5900x

Want to know something funny-not-funny? My best local price (non-UK) for a 5900x is £447. OCUK's price is £560.

That is one crazy price difference.

So pleased i got my order in for the 5950x at £749.99 and not OCUK price of £860  £110 difference just crazy price exploitation.

I missed the release day because I was in a teams meeting the whole day, what's the latest on the next batch of release or is it unknown?

My 1700 is still gamely battling on but as I am now fully retired it does little more than bouts of Civ 6, other strategy games and writing tasks so I cannot yet see a reason to upgrade. 5xxx seems a huge jump up from 1xxx though.

@Richdog i guess you live somewhere that has a relatively low sales tax compared to Europe? It’s generally 8-10% in the states compared to VAT which is normally 20%+ (as high as 25%) in Europe.

Hmm it is low tax where I live, but to me it seems that the markup is higher than usual this year due to the supply and demand situation.

For that you would need to compare the Ex VAT non-scalped prices. Doing business in Europe is generally more expensive than the USA for example, all that pesky red tape to protect citizens rights, working conditions, pensions and ‘free’ healthcare costs money at the end of the day.

Any thoughts on the 5800X fiasco on Reddit at the moment? A lot of angry neckbeards raging that their 5800X's are running too hot and that it's a 'hardware issue'.

Really difficult to say, I installed my 5800X with an Artic Liquid Freezer II 280 this afternoon and I have no complaints temperature wise.

It idles around 30-31°C and when running Cinebench R20 sessions maxes out around 78-79°C.

Great AIO that.

Unknown at present. I used a competitor and am in their queue system, they have hundreds of orders on backlog, well over 1k for the 5900X. I guess you're going to need a supplier that doesn't have a pre-order queue, and then to be lucky and log on when they get any :/

Yeah, probably better just joining the queue and getting it over with.

That's one of the best aio 280s available in cooler ambient temps on a quick load test and default settings? The temperatures aren't great. People on mid range air or even 240aio will struggle in summer if cpu and gpu is loaded up I'd think.

Edit - bios revisions may address some of it but I wonder if they'll adapt the default boost behaviour and voltages to compensate.
