AMD Zen 3 (Ryzen 4000) already in the works

I dont care what model naming logic AMD has used so far, but they need to make sure Zen5 processors on 5nm process releases with AM5 socket motherboards and are named Ryzen 5000. Release must happen on 5th of May. It would be criminal not to do this

(And with boosts to 5GHz)

:D

Ok this is turning into nobody expects the spanish inquisition.
our two weapons are fear and surprise ... and ruthless efficiency
Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope

And if I buy one from OCUK, I want 5 bags of Haribo with the order :D

Rumour is Zen 3 coming late next year now. Wonder why the releases are getting later? Hope they're not purposely delaying new stuff.. and if they are I'd expect it to be better than usual.

If it's true I guess that means AM5 will be late 2021 as well then.

Maybe even 2022 for AM5. Glad I did not wait for it and upgraded. In zero rush for anything right now :)

At least we don't have to live with a rumour that it's coming in March and then be disappointed.

Can be several factors:
- not enough manufacturing capacity at TSMC, which can be due to not enough machines from suppliers like ASML or intentional push back from TSMC itself;
- problems with the taped-out silicon from AMD - need for new revisions, etc;
- focus on better ROI from the older DUV 7nm technology...

Hope they're not purposely delaying new stuff
Of course they are.

Intel pose no threat for the next few years so AMD can spend a bit longer getting nuances worked out, refine things a little more, stagger new features and generally milk things just a little to build a war chest for when Intel eventually fight back. And it also gives TSMC space to get their capacities sorted out so we're not stuck with 10 units of 3950X to serve the entire planet again.

Not sure why its later, but im not too bothered about it. I'd rather they take their time and get it perfect instead of rush it out in a few months. The demand is almost certainly there, the supply will need to be as well

sounds good to me, no reason to rush out and repeat the buggy launch of ryzen 3000 again.

if ryzen 4000 is q4 2020 then ryzen 5000 (with DDR5, pcie 5, AM5) May only come 2022
