*** AMD "Zen 4" thread (inc AM5/APU discussion) ***

I just tried MemTest86 and MemTest86+ and they appear to boot before memory training so uses 4800(default) speed which sucks, there is a setting in the BIOS that stores the RAM timings from the previous memory training, so it skips training for faster boots but I have read that its buggy. Also, need to click boot list then click usb item in BIOS to direct boot to it.

Ah OK, thanks for that

Thus is where my mind is currently at,

Work tomorrow, then off for 2 weeks

Purchase a new motherboard (most likely s different brand ) and cpu
Test current one outside case, then test new board using old cpu

If problems, test new cpu

give this a try:
Use the MEMBench tab, select custom mode, task scope to 300% and run it.

Have you tried any games since it passed memtest/prime?
Mabe the first RAM kit was bad and it curruped window/games and thats why they crashed?

All 3 memory kits did the same

I'll try that calculator in a bit

But what I find odd, that when I turn the pc on, it seems to take forever just to get to the POST screen

If you're still using a non A+D AGEIA Bios, then your system might need to retrain every boot. However, some of the later BIOS with the A+D updates should only require a typical boot up time to get to Windows/OS and not need to Retrain all the time (which can take anything up to 2-5 minutes depending on amount of RAM).

ok so ive just been trying NFS Heat, and it seems fine (EXPO enabled)

if i run Elite Dangerous Horizons, it crashes after about 2 mins, but if i change to default it runs for a lot longer ?

im installing more games so i can do more testing
verify the game files as could have corrupt files. I would also re-install the display driver, possibly the chipset drive too.
