AMD Zen 6 rumours

No, because Ryzen 9000, AMD RX9070XT and Nvidia RTX5000 all have the same problem that they are on the same process node (5nm) as their predecessor, so no you can't say that about every generation.

The reason 2024 and 2025 have and will continue to be so crap for CPU and GPU launches is because they are stuck on the 5nm process
Isnt the 9000 series on 4nm?

Also isnt the 40 series on 4nm whilst the 50 series is on the 3nm node?

Tsmc 4nm isn't real 4nm, it's a refined 5nm and tsmc 6nm is a refined 7nm. The next real jump is 3nm. Tsmc even says it; their 4nm is a refined 5nm with nearly identical transistor density, where as 3nm offers a massive 60% improvement in density.

I used these names interchangeably so it's my bad, but it's worth remembering that these are marketing names, not scientific - "tsmc 4nm" does not actually refer to any physical characteristics of the lithography process, the correct way to identify new process node generations is when there is a big increase in density and that is 3nm

No? TSMC never claimed that 4nm related to the size of the transistors or any other physical aspects, they explain that on their website. Additionally I think false advertising only applies to when you the consumer buys a product, and TSMC didn't sell you anything, you bought from a retail store or directly from Nvidia, AMD and they never make any claims about 4nm being smaller transistors.

People just assume that smaller number means smaller transistors, but TSMC never claimed that

Yeah that makes sense, but its still a better technology and upfated node vs the previous generation. Despite it not being a proper leap forward like with 5nm to 3nm, its still half a leap in terms of node tech

no but AMD Web site says 4nm for the core and 6nm for the i/o

Additionally I think false advertising only applies to when you the consumer buys a product,
again for me AMD says 4nm not 5 thats like 4 but defo 5
it says "Processor Technology for CPU Cores - TSMC 4nm FinFET" finFET is the transistors


nvidia do clearly say 5nm for 5000 GPU's

TSMC anything isn’t really what’s claimed. We lost that argument to the marketing dept. AMD did switch to 4nm as the latest Zen was pencilled in for 3nm IIRC.
 
Going from 4nm to 3nm wont be that big of an improvement either I feel, going to be the same sort of incremental upgrades we got over the past few gens
 
I don't think we'll see 40% perf increases per core again tbh. That era is over.
Until there is some radical redesign.

I think AMD said AM5 support through to at least 2027.
But support and releasing new processor(s) till 2027 and beyond isn't same thing. (It would be d..k move not to release next Zen on Am5)
We shall see will there be triple channel memory slots in Am6 (not likely on Am5), because those processor are starting to become starved...
