AMD Zen 6 rumours

Yep really is, i havent upgraded much in 4 years as a result. Just gpu last year. Use to enjoy pc building as a hobby but mostly dead now.
Same as me, I enjoyed tinkering and building PCs as a hobby but the prices have stopped that.

Been trying to find a new hobby to do in the mean time but had no joy at the moment!

I don't have a PC at the moment. My main computer is an Apple Mac Studio which is great but I want to dual boot Linux and Windows 11 for various reasons. Windows 11 will mostly be for gaming and Linux will be used for programming and other tasks.
Advice still stands, just you are starting off from nothing.

Look at what sort of spec you would need for your desired use case and then work out a budget.

Do you want new or ok with used, used enterprise kit with a modest GPU might do you.

But since this is a Zen 6 we are looking around Q1 2027 for the release but like anything new it will be more expensive to build than anything right now.

Do we have a rough idea of when we might be seeing 12 core X3D, do you think there will be newer AM5 motherboards too?

There's rumoured AM5 900 series boards, but nothing solid, I think it's mostly an expectation considering the previous Zen releases.
The chipset is a bit long in the tooth now and lacking a bit feature wise for some so is due an update.

There was/is a mild midlife update to some 800 series motherboard models with larger bios chips, beefier power delivery, external clock generator and possibly improvements to memory trace layout for higher frequency support though that's hard to discern. Seems like iterative design changes to carry over to a 900 series with better support for future CUDIMMS.

It's not even a leak its the same CPU 9950X3D, just X engagement farming saying wont have to wait long for proper leaks...

Indeed if you don't have ram already or need to buy a new type such as CUDIMMS as it works best for it will be painful.

I wonder what kind of ram speeds will scale withe Zen 6 infinity fabric, the one thing Intel does do well is being able to leverage the performance offered by higher speed modules where as current Zen tops out at around 6000 mhz
