AMD Zen 6 rumours

I agree we don't need that kind of MT performance on gaming desktops, the 24c zen6 and 52c novalake chip appear to be just be circle jerk parts to try and one up each other for no real benefit to gamers
But it's still nice to have it when you need it. While my 7950X3D spends 95% of its time playing games or watching videos, it's so nice to have when I want lots of cores for things like video AI upscaling hundreds of old TV episodes on my Plex server that have never been remastered for 1080p Blu-ray, let alone 4K, so I did it myself. While this is primarily GPU-intensive, it does use every CPU thread I can throw at it, along with using my 4090 running at full load.

So I can't wait to just throw in a Zen 6 CPU into my board to get even more MT performance.
 
It depends how AMD's new chips scales with frequency. AMD's old chips(A64) had much lower frequency than Intel's(2Ghz vs 3Ghz) but had similar or better performance. The top of the frequency scale does not always bring the same amount of performance for most things, it does add lots of extra power usage though. I think 50% better vs 7x chips + lower power would be good. Add the extra cores and instruction and that's a sweet chip (if priced well).

I think you are probably right - the existing Microsoft HX VM's are 24-176 vCPUs using EPYC 9V33X (which is a 96 core part).

vCPUs don't have to map to physical cores either, could just as easily be mapping to the logical cpus and leaving a few spare for host management etc.

5ghz+ on a 192c and 384t is pretty bonkers and bodes pretty well for Ryzen clock speeds. 6ghz+ for the desktop parts?
Nowhere in the article does it mention a 5Ghz+ 192c part.

HDMI 2.2 supports 4K 480hz
This higher refresh 4k OLED monitor, to make use of the increase CPU power. A 4k 480hz monitor won’t exist for a few years if i had to guess.

4K 480hz monitors will probably be end of next year, wait to see if CES 2027 has any information
