*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

dont think ive ever had a asrock board id like to try one out too, biggest annoy with me and motherboards is software/drivers, im not a hardcore overclocker so

dam asus sound driver software 450mb, maybe its not their fault but wow :(

Asrock are great boards. My current one is the Z170OC Formula. Absolutely superb, especially on overclocking :D

If Zen was anywhere near 48 hours to launch, we'd know about it.
I wish Zen was before Christmas. But it's currently being touted as Q1 2017 (Early Q1, like January)

Also, that article is just lol.

The previous Bulldozer series was popular among gamers who were looking for fast performance, and weren't willing to shell out extra money for the Intel equivalent

That didn't happen.

I don't know if its true or not but i have come across a lot of people with FX series CPU's and they bought them for exactly those reasons, and none of them are people who you would find in places like this.

People often forget that the population of this forum is in no way representative of the computer user population at large, or even the gaming population. I have no idea what the sales figures were of the FX series but it must've been decent enough for them to bother to keep making and improving them.

I just read it on here, so not true then.

Tomorrow is some special press event, not launch. That is rumoured for mid-January although I don't think there's anything concrete yet. That article's predictions about prices are pretty crazy. £180 for the 8-core would be nice in theory but won't happen.

.

There's been no proper addition to the line in 4 years.

Bulldozer series is surely the bulldozer line up :p

I took it to be the Bulldozer line of chips that began with Bulldozer and then went Piledriver and Steamroller. They're all minor point iterations of the same series. The sentence doesn't really make sense otherwise and it seems understandable to say they're all part of the Bulldozer series.

yes hopefully we get to see some decent performance benchmarks and not it does great in some obscure things no one does. for eg ashes of singularity :p
