*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

It's not hard to believe they would de-prioritize ARM. It was trendy then all of a sudden not once people saw the server market shrug it off.

Dat FUD doe.

(same website that ran 30fps shill article for Ubisoft and claimed Fury X was a dual GPU based on misreading a VR slide)

What did they build? APU?

The 14LPP platform taps the benefits of three-dimensional, fully-depleted FinFET transistors

Are they saying 14LPP is actually a SOI process??? Or was this release just written by a marketer.

Gotta love how they are bragging so much about a node they received as charity from Samsung! :D

GloFo's "early-access" version of the 14-nm tech, called LPE, was qualified for volume production back in January, while 14-nm LPP was qualified in the third quarter of this year. The company says it's ramping 14-nm LPP silicon "with production-ready yields" and "excellent model-to-hardware correlation" at its Fab 8 facility in New York state. This "performance-enhanced" process is expected to undergo an early ramp in the fourth quarter of 2015, with full-scale production set for 2016.

So they could be early 2016 rather than later.

Next year should be really good.

Fancy an 8 core Zen setup with a new AMD GPU and 4K monitor. A big system update. Hope AMD deliver otherwise it will have to be Intel / Nvidia again, really fancy a change to AMD this time. Come on guys don't disappoint.

Yeah - I'm holding off on upgrading anything until Zen benchmarks are out, quietly hopeful... but I've been let down before by AMD.

Really hoping for some more competition in the desktop APU/CPU market.

Closing on 2016, going to create a Google alert for this!

Just what i want an update of my Am1 APU maybe 3.2ghz version for HTPC and a big fat 8 core for my main pc

There was a leaked slide that said October 2016 for desktop. Server probably before that but wasn't mentioned.

I imagine we'll know all we need to by mid-year.

AMD Zen FX CPU Product Release Set For Q4 2016 – APUs Coming In 2017 With Comparable Performance To The PS4 And XBOX ONE

Read more: http://wccftech.com/amd-zen-launch-q4-2016/#ixzz3sXJLf2VC

Zen is undoubtedly one of the most hotly anticipated AMD products announced for 2016 as it marks the company’s re-entry to the high performance x86 CPU segment with a brand new, clean slate, microarchitecture after a near complete absence of participation from the company in that segment for what now amounts to roughly half a decade.

Moving over to the APU and server side of the Zen equation. APUs and enterprise products based on the new Zen microarchitecture are planned for release sometime in 2017. We’ve also learned of a particularly exciting piece of information about AMD’s next generation APUs and that they will boast performance levels that are comparable with the Playstation 4 and XBOX ONE, even inside frugal notebook chips.

THIS IS NOT NEWS.

They do this all the time. It's just a puff piece re-iterating what we all already know with some BS about "sources". They have no sources. They just want more clicks without doing any work.
