*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

Yeah the conversion from the leaks of the US site isn't so bad, but I was referring to the European leaks of the AsRock ones.

Although the AMD Tomahawk seems to have a few less I/O etc than the Intel equivalent

Then i wont be buying anything from ASRock, the MSI Tomahawk is the one that i though looked good, turns out its nicely in my price range and 40% cheaper than the Intel equivalent, minus one M.2, i only need one anyway.

New GPU comes first tho.....

Those prices are ridiculous, there's 3 Matx Asrock boards on that list, but the prices are laughable at best

Not going to say I'm sceptical about those "prices" but I'm sceptical.

I've found somewhere with proper prices on three AM4 mobos.
X370-Taichi = £184
X370 Gaming K4 =£124
B350 Tomahawk = £117

Had to currency convert and VAT may need to be added on.

The price of the Tomahawk lines up and the prices sound a lot more reasonable.

Well the top end asrock motherboard for Z170 is around £204 so £184 for the taichi wouldn't be that bad seeing as is one of the top end motherboards on release.

Right, i think ASRock just fancy themselves as a 'premium brand', iether way it seems AMD boards are still less costly than Intel equivalents.

Ita actually £105 for the Tomahawk ^^^^^^ $109 = £88 + 20 VAT = £105.
I got the numbers yesterday from a completely different source so the prices for the Tomahawk are close enough, the seller has to take their cut maybe my source is just greedier. But £184 sounds a whole lot more reasonable than £340!

Agreed that the new AMD boards will probably be comparably cheaper than the intel counterparts.

I would put Asrock up there with Asus now in terms of specification and build quality. Its a shame the prices have started to reflect that. My x99 asrock board is amazing and was very well priced when I purchased it :)

Hopefully it is, the above scores place the 1600X above its Haswell equivalent at a slower clock.
It's above its Broadwell equivalent, and considering Skylake and Kaby Lake are only have 3% better IPC compared to Broadwell (on average), it looks like Ryzen will at least match Kaby Lake IPC in most benchmarks.

Yeah, good luck with that lol
The most recent leaked benchmarks all put Ryzen ahead of Broadwell at the same clocks, except for the Passmark physics and prime tests. it's not even just multithreaded benchmarks that it's ahead in. I'm sure your super secret sources know better though.

I don't think it's Kabylake level IPC, I would say Haswell+ or BW-E level in single threaded stuff but potentially better than Intel in Multithreaded.
So you think it's at Broadwell IPC but not at Kaby Lake IPC? You realise there's maybe 3% difference between the two, right? That's nearly margin-of-error stuff. If it's Broadwell-E level IPC (in a particular benchmark) then it's fair to say it's competing with, and very close to, Kaby Lake too.

The thread is just full of hope and zero substance!!!!!!!!! Don't understand anyone even typing in it till they see exactly whats going on.

Asrock boards are generally very good these days at the top end. Z170 OC Formula and OCFM are truly great as is X99 Killer M and from Z77 infact all OCF great. Z270 Taichi is great and I know Nick was working on this along time so it will be good. Nicks products are good end of....

Nope, in this case you can work it out for yourself. Plus, yes, if it were matching KBL or faster in anything - you'd bet your bottom I'd be more excited about it too!

You have the advantage that you know pretty much everything within the NDA about RyZen. The rest of us only have hope.... Leave us alone to dream / hope ;)

Thing is Scone, like John Snow, you know nothing, just secondhand information and rumors like the rest of us, so do us all a favour and stop pretending you know something, you don't, sorry but your not the special little flower you think you are.

No one but the people who have final silicon know how good it is, I bet even 8Pack has not used final chips yet

Well, its alight for you critical of us speculating, you probably have one by now.

All we have to go on are these apparent leaks and AMD's own Blender and Handbreak results, these benchmarks / leaks exist so thats what we will talk about. we don't have the chip in our hands, we rely on others who do.
