*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

Please be good, don't crush our dreams!

Now imagine if they can successfully launch a server platform that similarly stomps Intel.... Intel would have to pull their finger out after years of drip fed enhancements.

I do hope that the chips are available as OEM, because I really don't want to pay for an "improved" cooler I wont use haha.
looking at the pic on page 343 it looks like there is a with and without cooler option. Although not sure if the pic is geunine.

There will be lesser threaded/core chips going for less than that, AMD are taking the fight across the whole price range. Seems smallest chip currently planned is a 4c part.

Yes, but isn't the only CPU available at launch going to be the 8c? I'm not sure if reviews will be available for the others when the NDA ends.

I took the pleasure in placing these scores into an older CPU score chart below. Very impressive, way over Haswell IPC and over Broadwell when comparing clocks. Would be interesting to see where the 1800X will sit in this.

Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures, and that Kanye told unto him "Yo, Jesus, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you finish, but AMD had one of the best resurrections of all time! One of the best resurrections of all time!".

Cool. Sounds like it could be amazing in that case, but still... I can't justify more than about £200/£250 for a CPU for my personal needs.
I'm similar. But the interesting question is what happens to the existing CPUs that are on the market? I can only imagine significant price reductions, followed by release of more new and cheaper CPUs.

Ryzen 4 and 6 cores coming later - so are APUs. Cheaper options are on the way and in the mean time existing CPUs will have their values shaken up a bit. I can't see this being anything other than good for the whole market.

Not according to the leaked single threaded C15 score of the 1600X, which got 146 @3.7Ghz boost, my 4690K @3.7Ghz gets 145. So we're looking at Haswell levels of IPC, not 'way over'.
Above leak single core same as the 4690 @ 3.9 and Ryzen @ less, this seems a head to me.

It's still enough to give people an option though, I've said before that if it can match my 4790k (or close enough) and offer me extra cores and threads I'll bite. That said I'm going to wait this time and get Vega first and see what Ryzen actually offers and maybe wait for the next revision.
