*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

AMD vs Intel Market share was almost 50 / 50 in Q1 2006, now its 18 / 82

Go into any one of the 25 man legion raids and tell me that a 7700k is enough.

I will agree on this. My 4930K @ 4.5 (32GB 2166 CL14 quad channel) was cutting Cyrodil at ESO much better than the 6700K @ 4.7Ghz (16GB 3600 CL16 dual channel).

And to put in perspective, I am not talking about 25 man legion raid. But HUNDREDS of people on screen at any time from both sides, with spells and siege engines on both sides on overdrive.......

Little off topic still, but anyone know the reason for AMD's peak share value of $90 back in 2000? It happened once and very very briefly by the looks of it.

Announcement of A64?
K7 Athlons (Thunderbird). Followed later on by XP/MP series, who sold very well also.
It was the period Intel was stuck on the P3 1Ghz, which was simply not that good, especially on FPU calculations which mattered. (half the perf compared to the 1Ghz Tbird).

And I still have my 1Ghz Tbird from that period. Amazing overclocker, first try 1400, second try 1530. But had to build my first watercooling system back then, because Greek summers are hot.

Haha I saw this today

AMD just posted this probably to clear up all rumors of memory performance being difficult to achieve.

It’s #MemoryOverclockMonday so here’s the Ryzen 7 1700 running DDR4-3400. Enjoy!

Hmm another Crosshair Hero. hmmm. Seen that one more often than the Taichi, which on paper looks better for overclocking.

But they could have done better with the card. Thats an RX480 reference.

Well that's blown out the water some comments that have been made on here about memory issues...

Could it be a bios update already ?

Possibly, because already few pages back they were listing new BIOS uploads for many mobos and all of them related to RAM.
