I like the cpuz comparison with 7700k at base. Although we really shouldn't be comparing so much against it. Another thing is vcore doesn't seem to have been increased

Interesting so nigh on a 7700k. Obviously the i7 can be overclocked aswell but I'd be more than happy with kabylake single threaded stock performance.
Any ideas on what board this was on?

It really isn't far off Kaby depending on the test. (Till you overclock the latter )

Have we actually had any confirmation of motherboard shortages? I certainly expect that the more popular ones will sell out quickly, and that smaller stores may not get as many in as expected, but OCUK are usually quite good at getting stock ahead of their competitors. I'm thinking back to the gtx 1080 and RX480 launches where there were stories all over the place of stock shortages, while OCUK managed to maintain fairly good stock.

Am I just being overly optimistic or will I get my taichi on Friday?

There is shortage, but not just here. Webnote reply from OCUK sales:
"Motherboard supply is more limited and you may expect to wait longer for us to receive stock for sale".

Overall looks like it kicks ass in multithreaded apps and for gaming it's a non issue, it holds its own in the games tested?

Still waiting for reviews from more respected sites tomorrow though
