*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

I'm trying to get the slides that matter from here but thier MySQL database is very unstable and keeps crashing, and they have one meaningless slide per endless pages before you get to gaming slides, if there are any, what a horrible website....

I've made it to the gaming results, they could be better, but they could be a lot worse.

That power consumption!

seemed to hit 3.5ghz across all cores/threads under full load

Right......

Power consumption: actually very good, slightly less than the 7700K... this for a CPU with twice as many threads, a complete turn around from AMD, now they are significantly more power efficient than Intel, did you ever think you would see that written in text?

Cinebench, one of Intel's favourites, tho not for much longer i suspect.....

And some games, a mixed bag, not bad, really not bad at all, but also not great....

All in all i think thats really good.....

I should also add that i read through that review, they are using 2133Mhz memory, that is very low, i think some of those game benchmarks would be significantly improved with 3Ghz memory, especially Bioshok infinite which seems to be entirely FP dependant.

Running 2133MHZ DDR4 and the stock cooler.

Stock fan is all you need :D
Well with 1700 clocked up you would think you might need more be great if it was lol.

Also at least the 1700 comes with a fan. Something I know for the 1800x they were in short supply of. I would have liked the option to purchase. Prior to changing over my main system water to.
I think the 100mhz XFR better cooling and needed for that is a bust. Spending more money to achieve a 100- 200mhz overclock, but worth it on the 1700 if it at all needs it. Might have to give it some love anyways if it clocks that well :)
