*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

I'm starting to wonder what values make a review legit , RX 480 flashback.

Seriously? You take as fact a review of an ES CPU with half it's parts turned off, unknown speeds, on a B350 board and crap memory.
From a website in a country where the export of electronics made in China, US, Canada and the EU is illegal and under UN sanctions?
Because yes the embargo was lifted but only for banking, oil and few other bits. NOT electronics.

No its not worth replying since computerbase.de just showed that in many games and if you are so desperate to say otherwise go and moan at them on their forums.

Plus if you are that desperate to show all games only use a core or two, then get a Core i3 7350K - people like you are hypocrites.

If ST performance was the only metric which was important, why did you get a Core i7 3770K??

Why did you get a 4C/8T CPU years ago, instead of just getting a Core i5 2500k,disabling half the cores and clocking it to 5GHZ?

Your own computer contradicts your stance since you went 4C/8T 5 years ago instead of 2C/2C.

You are so desperate to push your purchase justification, you are contradicting your own purchasing habits.

See the amended post. You've got me so wrong it's untrue :o

These comparisons have gone wild :D

I don't think you're aware that comparing a ryzen 7 chip to an i7 for gaming isn't the same as saying less cores at higher clock speed is better. It's not difficult, come on.

Basically, anybody who is on a SB or IB Core i7 and is bleating on about how games don't thread is a hypocrite or a troll.

Back then most games really showed little advantage to a Core i7. The only people who bought them did it since they believed MT performance was the way forward for games.

Everybody else bought Core i5 chips which could clock higher and were massively cheaper.

Moreover, there is nothing stopping you disabling half the cores and getting a higher overclock.

This is what INTEL DID - they made a Xeon version of the chip in the Core i7 920 which ran at 4.4GHZ - it only had 2 cores active. That was on 45NM.

Yet none of them really care about ST performance - all the people talking about ST performance have Core i7s,not overclocked Core i5s or Core i3s.

All of them running full 4C/8T enabled.

You like me have an IB Core i7. Remember how people were saying don't get Core i7 back then??

:p

I think people should live and let live a bit more on here and should respect others philosophy's. Personally I have a 7700k and more than happy with it. But I'm also hoping Ryzen does well and understand the more core argument vs raw clock speed.

CTF, you don't seem to be able to take the comment for what it is. Don't add on assumptions to it. No hypocrite or troll. I'll likely be buying a 1700 spending as I say over 4 figures to go with my 1080 vrm house fire evga FTW unless I can pickup an x99 bundle cheap. See the wanted section and post time if you don't think I think core count matters or will matter. It's not what I've said.

And if either Intel or AMD could release a 10 core chip that easily overclocks to 5.0Ghz for £350, then wouldn't we all be content? Till then its all subjective to a degree.

THE POO HAS HIT THE FAN:

It's literally 1 day before Ryzen launch and AMD is still sending emails last minute changes to testing methodology. Seriously??

Yeah cos im gunna take the word of this muppet, same as that moron Kyle, that other moron LTT and quite a few of the morons at Toms Hardware... seriously most of these sites have gotten so big headed, made fat by pay offs etc... i'll wait for real world user benchmarks, of which there will be thousands on Youtube within a week or two. Just average out a few of those and your good to go imo. Most of those tards on techsites honestly believe they are something special, bringing the gospel to the masses.
