720p...who cares?

IIRC Windows XP had a manual patch for

If there really is only one 6c/12t SKU that's very disappointing. Depends on the price I guess but if that is the case the R7 1700 is going to look a lot more tempting than the R5 1600X.

you get the feeling the 1600 was pulled wrong see the 1700 hit x1800 levels hahaha

720p...who cares?

your not quite grasping the concept of the article :)

gotta say, i was not expecting Ryzen to fall behind in gaming benchmarks, given the raw power it shows in SMT and ST applications, best in dept review about memory latency and cache imo was done by hardware.fr , the L3 latency seem to be way too high, they nailed it down to the fact that windows 10 scheduler tends to swap threads out of the CCX, taxing the bandwidth of the cache an increasing the latency, this seem to have a direct impact on gaming and compression tasks.
they seem to be positive that the problem can be solved by Microsoft, by modifying the scheduler.
my question was there any tests done on windows 7, just for the sake of comparaison ?
AMD butchered the launch of another good performing product...

Yep after everything so far I am struggling to see the need for the 1700x or 1800x apart from people who will drop and play without touching the Bios. For the cost difference and the info that is available I would say that 1700 is pretty sweet.

OcUK put the wrong postcode on my CPU delivery - or at least it seems to have become corrupted in the "delivery address" records so I'm told it will be here around 3pm but I've just had a "we carded you whilst you were out" text so where it is and whether/when/if it will turn up is anyones guess right now.

I cleaned out my PC last night - removed the mobo/skylake/h80igt/fans and installed the new mobo/h110i - went through about 20-25 wet-wipes to remove all the dirt/dust/fluff - just need the cpu now.

Panic averted - its just been delivered :D

Am I ok to get excited if I see my OCUK order in green but haven't had the email yet? I just checked on a whim and my VI Hero order has gone green =O
Awesome, happy for you, out of curiosity what date/time did your order go through? I still havent got mine in the green and I ordered 22 Feb 21:08.

Why it is still showing lower ST performance than the i7 7700K since we have been seeing slides and always suggested where CPU bound (not often if at all really once on proper resolution gaming) that it was below the performance of what Intel provide.

However it has also shown that it is more than capable of driving current games at the same FPS from 1080p to 1440p from what has been tested and that is what is important now.

The things you mention however will improve and be better over time and thus the loss at the lower 720p should even up more as things are resolved. And well Ryzen doesn't formally support W7 or earlier so that is why there has been no official W7 results from what I am aware.
