It's unlikely to be huge but 2%... Quite a few games should see a nice boost. All guess work as it stands regardless.

Intel have offered 0% uplifts between generations a couple of times. It's unlikely to be anything meaningful is what I'm saying. People shouldn't expect more than 5% tops as it not going to happen without Intel undertaking a total redesign. Maybe even designing a new desktop CPU from the ground up.

With the load temp that low I'd be injecting more voltage into it.

Nice work, but try 1 hour and using 16GB, or 32GB of memory if your system has that much. I've passed 30 minutes but failed an hour.

I can get 4.1Ghz stable, but any higher is limited to short benching runs only. At 4.1Ghz i need about 1.525v-1.546v so that's a huge jump and above what i am comfortable running 24/7.

I'm using 32gb 2400mhz.

With my temps I wanted to put more voltage in but I found more voltage was crashing my system. Is this a chip limitation for me then?

I'd keep the stock cooler for now and upgrade to 16GB down the line... it's for productivity and gaming.

Does NET £300 seem about right?
 
Genuine question here why are some people waiting for the gigabyte over the asus?
Well, as a Gigabyte Gaming 5 owner (same as the 7 but white instead of black and no BCLK overclocking feature) the decision was simply down to the greater feature set on the Gigabyte board, they didn't cheap out on anything wheras the ASUS had no PS/2 connector for mechanical keyboard and no U.2 port for future SSDs.

That and also historically (at least for the last 20 years anyway) I have used Gigabyte boards with AMD and ASUS boards with Intel.


k7 has loads of LEDs all over it - that actually put me off
You know that in addition to being able to set them to any colour under the sun as well as pulsing/blinking/cycling/static you can also set them to "off" right? :p

In Single threaded 160 @ 4Ghz vs 165 for the 4770K @ 4.4Ghz, that equates to Ryzen having a 7% IPC lead over Haswell, didn't know that,.... wow

According to Gigabytes product pages for each board they are, checked them before pre-ordering. The heat-sink/shroud colour difference is obvious in the photos and the BCLK clocking is the only bullet point present on the 7's spec list but not on the 5's.

I don't know if Cinebench is comparable between processors though?
I tend to use it as a measurement of performance scaling vs the overclock of the system i'm overclocking.
My 4770k at 4ghz scores 160 In r15 so it makes it equal, but then r15 is sensitive to memory timings aswell.

edit in cpu-z bench ryzen easily beats the 4770k clock for clock.
