Nothing to old but sure :p

4770k @ Stock. With Corsair H80i GT
16gb Corsair LP Ram
960 GTX 2gb
Asus Impact Motherboard

On a Dell UW Monitor. Playing games isn't fun as you can properly guess. So might just end up updating my graphics card. But finding it hard not to upgrade everything :p

I would certainly look into overclocking your CPU and upgrading your graphics card first. It will feel like a new computer after that.

So am I reading this article right?
https://videocardz.com/67649/amd-ryzen-cpu-with-12-cores-and-24-threads-spotted

What I've come away with is if accurate AMD are about to release another desktop platform AMD’s HEDT X390 platform, with a different socket and a range of cpu's with more than 8 cores?
If so I imagine it'll upsat a lot of early adopters.

How different is that with the Intel X series? Do you see many people upset on the streets complaining why their quad core socket doesn't support 10 core CPUs?

Also these are server boards.

Just ordered some of that 3600mhz gskill. It wasn't cheap but the memory I'm using now will help with the cost lol.
Depending on how long DDR4 remains on the current platforms, RAM can be the longest lasting component people have, so a fast speed now could be used in a future system and avoid paying again.

True. 2020 we going to see DDR5 in the market. That's 4+ years for many of us

Yeah can't imagine someone buying a hero 6 just for it to be slapped in the corner of a server room never to be seen again.

This was my justification lol. Plus I've never used gskill. It seemed to be American market only a few years back.

Yeah I guess you are right. What could I expect roughly on the CPU do you think?

Them 1080ti's are mighty tempting also. Would wait for the ones with better coolers though.

Pretty sure that's Samsung. Have a look on the overclocking.net hero thread. There's a table there with people's ram findings.

Yes just checked Samsung :) Thanks for that i appreciate the info

Got a great price on these sticks got a pair of 2x8 for £75 and another kit £70 rain people warehouse deals :)

£299 for the 1700...Is tempting! Was planning to update my rig when M-ITX boards came out. But might just get 1700 now at £299 just incase prices go up.

Great price

Quick question people regards motherboard worth paying more and getting the Asrock X370 Taichi over the Asrock Killer?

Also worth paying more the Ryzen X over the 1700 will it clock further or anything over the normal 1700 ?

Thank you.

There's people on here with 1700's at 4.0. there's also people with 1700x at 3.9 it's a lottery. The upside of the x chips is they clock the same but use less voltage. They all seem to hit a wall after 4.0 regardless of volts.

Tempting on that £299 1700. I've been eyeing up the 1700X, as it is really very very lose to the 1800X and from a few benchmarks I've seen minimum frames are actually a little better on the 1700x compared to the 1700. As much a 7fps in one of two games.

XFR is another thing that I 'won't'. Even tho I understand it only means in the right thermal conditions the CPU will boost a further 100Mhz. And that's only on one core right?

Probably not really worth it......

Are any of the cheaper boards able to clock upto 3200Mhz memory reliably yet? Can't justify these high mobo prices to myself and it really pushes up the buy in price.

Was hoping to get on to AM4 cheap initially as I already had 2400Mhz RAM I picked up ages ago but it's too slow and dual rank now :(
