Getting nice scores with memory which is stable, now have to work on overclock when I get cooling sorted although stock fan is really good.

Also has all the performance been gained from MS updates or do you think there is more to come, ive noticed the Mobo bios updates have made improvements (with RAM speeds) but is there going to be a 5-10% increase once the core scheduling is sorted in win10?
Honestly coming from a 3770K the doubling of cores (and higher IPC) has me actually excited for the upgrade for the first time in years, its a bit like the first time i bought a quad core.

In the same boat, going to grab a 1700, but waiting on some higher end motherboards coming out :( Want something that's aesthetically pleasing, sigh!

I suppose the assumption is that X370 boards will have better quality components also, e.g the VRMs. I haven't seen any tests yet that suggest B350 boards don't overclock as well as X370 boards but I haven't looked very hard.

I am failing to see any difference in CPU overclocking. Most B350 boards including my own are achieving the same overclocks or even better than X boards.

Seems to hit a CPU limitation more than a motherboard limitation.

Maybe be different with RAM when boards start to support better.

This. The limiting factor is CPU not motherboard. At the moment the higher motherboards can achieve better ram speeds.
I went from a tomahawk to a crosshair hero 6 and overclock was very much the same except the VRM's on the b350 were a lot hotter.

All i did put this in another thread but just wondered what a few of you guys would think also

Right a bit confused at the moment

I'm looking at getting the 1700 and a Taichi board and want 32gig of ram as i use Virtual machine a lot . But it appears not all ram works and then not to the full speed was looking at something like 3200MHz Dual Channel what’s recommended without having to mess around to much with it ?

For the sake of £50-100 and if you're keeping the board for years, I see no reason not to buy x370 with cooler running vrms and better components in general. They also look a lot better for the most part for those with windowed cases and wanting rgb.

64gb at 3200 is a no go at the moment whether it be 2 sticks or 4. For that size you are looking at 2666mhz. At least until may when amd release new updates for bios's

MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON
ASRock AMD AM4 Ryzen X370 Gaming K4
Gigabyte AORUS AMD Ryzen AM4 AX370 GAMING K5
MSI AMD AM4 Ryzen X370 KRAIT GAMING

Any B350 ones,which are worth it. For an R5 build.

I would probably go for the ASRock in that case.

Thanks for the reply seems a minefield atm with ram !
Can't really wait till may as i've got rid of my old pc ( well wil be next week )

So could i not buy 3200Mhz and run it at 2666 for the time being ?

You certainly can. 2666 seems to be the most common speed. What memory are you looking at going for?
