Thanks
HWINFO64

As above, HWinfo for temp monitoring, and it's the 'Package' temp you want to look at.

Also the 'base' clock is the all thread speed (hence 3.4GHz), 3.8GHz is the boost clock for up to 2 threads.

I wouldn't worry about core temp. I wouldn't expect to get any sort of accurate temperature out of an AMD chip and haven't since Phenom II.

I remember thuban would report sub ambient temperatures

Thank you

I think it'd only turbo up to 3.8 on single core stuff.

I've been using HWinfo and Ryzen Master for temps atm

Ah ok i thought it went up to 3.8ghz time to overclock it a bit then i think ;)
Like the Ryzen temp just booted up 5 Virtual machines and it never really moved off 25C

Thanks

1700X has a base clock of 3.4Ghz but that should boost up to 3.5Ghz on all cores. Then when using single/dual core tasks it should boost+xfr up to 3.9Ghz.

I don't have a 1700X but I think those are right.

1700 has base 3.2, boost 3.2 on all cores, 3.75 boost+xfr on two cores.
1700X has base 3.4, boost 3.5 on all cores, 3.9 boost+xfr on two cores.
1800X has base 3.6, boost 3.7 on all cores, 4.1 boost+xfr on two cores.

Just set Overclok to 3.8 in the bios and it's not moved from that temp for past 15 mins or so now I've not tocuhed the voltage or anything just altered the Mhz , Not sure what sort of speed i should expect at tops?

Can anyone recommend a MATX board for a 1700? My head is dizzy looking into it. I liked the looks of the MSI Mortar but heard they are slow on the uptake when it comes to releasing BIOS updates.

Gigabyte K3 looks OK.

Can't make my mind up.

Gaming performance thumbs up.

However browsing the web my old 3570k seems to be able to load pages faster than my 1700.

Doesn't matter as much as does not use the 1700 for browsing but just an observation.

This is with Chrome which is meant to be multi thread.

I noticed the opposite if anything, my haswell xeon at 3.7 certainly feels slower browsing and youtube viewing. The boot time on that would wipe the floor with this though why is every ryzen so slow to boot!?

While I'm here, my Gigabyte B350 board keeps removing the Sound Blaster Z card, if I reseat it, it works fine but every time I cold boot it disappears again. Rinse and repeat. Cant be removing and reseating it every time, any ideas?

Updated bios? Are you running creators update? I know the new version of windows is removing programs it deems incompatible. Could be software rather than hardware issue.

Update the drivers for it?
