The way the article is worded it sounds like their source is WCCFtech, even if they put AMD down.

This has peaked my interest and also made me change my ryzen motherboard buying tactic. If I do go for a AMD 1700 I will probably go for a cheap motherboard with a view to upgrade to Threadripper in a couple of years.

Giving the lie to the interesting times curse? Interesting times indeed for the CPU/APU market. I have an A8 APU in my HTPC/minor gaming rig and Sandybridge in my main PC gaming rig, but my interest is indeed being piqued by all these new AMD offerings. Only question is how long to hold out for the best upgrade platform...
I'm thinking the jump to 7nm might be the right time. I can see the next drop after that being some way off.

I call shenanigans with that table.
1977X - 14 cores - 4.0GHz - 155W
1976X - 14 cores - 4.1GHz - 140W
Actually I looked at the original source and it says the 1976X is 12 cores so someone mucked up the table! Oops.

For the sake of £40 1600X, it might be better binned.
For the sake of 100 MHz at most though? Technically that last £40 for an extra 100 MHz is really bad relative value but it's up to you if you want higher chance of better clocks.

personally I'd stick with a 1600 and throw the 40 quid saved into ram or gpu upgrade
1600 also provide a cooler 1600X not

I have only read anything about the laptop cpu's in that link, so i'm sort of hopeful that they may have the same socket as our desktop Ryzen's ?
I well remember how we all raved about the socket A xp1700's, they clocked very well. But when AMD released the Mobile version's it was like us clockers had died and gone to heaven. I hope they can repeat the same thing this time round.
Interesting rumor I saw over on reddit (http://www.bitsandchips.it/52-english-news/8372-rumor-crazy-high-yields-for-ryzen-dies-over-80) stating that AMD are seeing 80% of the dies on a wafer being fully functional 8 core chips.
If its true we might have a long wait before we see any of the lower core count Threadripper and EPYC CPU's.
